The Avalanche are not considering trading Ryan O'Reilly while the RFA plays in the KHL, two league sources told the Denver Post's Adrian Dater. The two sides remain in contract discussions but are roughly $1.5 million apart per year in the Avs' latest offer, according to the report. O'Reilly's demands are hamstrung a bit by the contract teammate Matt Duchene signed last summer and we're not sure the Avs will relent. Only 21 and coming off a 55-point season, O'Reilly is one of the best young two-way centermen in the league and would be a solid depth option in the middle for fantasy owners when this impasse finally ends.

Ryan O'Reilly and the Colorado Avalanche are still trying to negotiate a new deal. O'Reilly is a restricted free agent and is currently playing in the KHL while his agent Mark Guy negotiates with the Avs. It's possible that the two sides are at an impasse and O'Reilly could get traded or stay in the KHL but we think that the two sides will agree upon a new contract soon and O'Reilly will be back in a Avs uniform by the start of the season. Or not. Stay tuned as O'Reilly is coming off a 55 point season and is only 21.

Restricted free agent Ryan O'Reilly has still not re-signed with the Colorado Avalanche. O'Reilly had a breakout season in 2011-12 with 55 points and is looking to be rewarded for his play despite being only 21. He signed a deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL and has four goals and six points in seven games. Look for the Avs to eventually sign O'Reilly as he is a top six forward for the club.

Ryan O'Reilly's agent, Mark Guy has engaged in talks with the Colorado Avalanche about a possible contract for his client. O'Reilly is a restricted free agent and is expected to stay in the KHL until he signs with Colorado. That means that he might miss the start of training camp if the talks don't go smoothly. There might be a significant gap between what the Avalanche are offering and O'Reilly feels he's worth, given that he enjoyed a 55-point breakout campaign in 2011-12. If the Avalanche are worried he might regress, they'll be reluctant to pay him in accordance with his 2011-12 performance.

Ryan O'Reilly is still playing with the KHL's Metallurg Magnitogorsk. O'Reilly is a restricted free agent and waiting for the Colorado Avalanche to present him with an offer. O'Reilly took a huge leap forward in 2011-12 by scoring 18 goals and 55 points in 81 games. He'll probably want a contract that reflects those accomplishments, but the Avalanche might hesitate to make a long-term commitment until they're comfortable that he won't regress.

Ryan O'Reilly's agent Mark Guy expects to start talking contract with the Colorado Avalanche when the CBA deal has been ratified. O'Reilly is a restricted free agent who signed a two-year deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL in December with an opt-out if he signs back in the NHL. He played with his brother Cal on Magnitogorsk but is now looking to return to the NHL after an 18 goal, 55 point season as a 21-year-old in 2011-12. Stay tuned.

Free agents - both restricted and unrestricted - must wait for a CBA to be finalized before they can sign new contracts. The most interesting cases likely lie in the RFA's: P.K. Subban and Jamie Benn rank among the biggest impact players in need of agreements. Ryan O'Reilly's situation is odd, too, because he technically has a two-year deal in the KHL.

Ryan O'Reilly is ready for KHL debut on Wednesday with Metallurg Magnitogorsk and he's already enjoying his time in Russia alongside brother Cal O'Reilly. "It's very strange, lots of new things, but fun," O'Reilly told R-Sport. "As for the arena, the rink is very nice. My brother said it was good but after getting here and seeing it myself I know it's all really nice." He also doesn't expect there to be a tough transition to European play with North American coach Paul Maurice behind the bench.

Ryan O'Reilly has signed with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL. O'Reilly broke out in 2011-12 with 18 goals and 55 points in 81 games with the Colorado Avalanche. That came in the final season of his entry-level contract and he was due to get a big raise. However, he wasn't able to agree to terms with the Avalanche before the lockout began, so he's still technically a restricted free agent.

Ryan O'Reilly was supportive of Colorado's choice to name his linemate Gabriel Landeskog as the team's newest captain. He posted: "Congrats @GabeLandeskog92 on youngest captain in NHL history. Amazing player and even better guy" on his Twitter page Tuesday. O'Reilly was also thought to be a strong candidate for the team's captaincy and coach Joe Sacco said that once the 21-year-old's contract status is settled he might get an "A" on his sweater and join Milan Hejduk and Paul Stastny as assistants.
