Restricted free agent Ryan O'Reilly has already missed the Colorado Avalanche's first two games. O'Reilly and the Avalanche seem to be stuck in a staring contest regarding how much his client is worth. O'Reilly's agent recently said that his client isn't looking for $5 million per season despite the rumors to the contrary. However, it's not clear how much O'Reilly does want. The Avalanche have reportedly offered O'Reilly a two-year/$7 million deal and a separate five-year/$17 million contract. Meanwhile, the Avalanche will play again on Thursday.

Ryan O'Reilly's agent says that his player is not looking for $5 million per season Mark Guy is not saying how much his client is asking for, but it is not $5 million a season on a short-term deal. The Avs have reportedly offered a two-year/$7 million deal or a five year deal worth $17 million. Stay tuned as this soap opera is not over.

The Colorado Avalanche and Ryan O'Reilly are still communicating according to GM Greg Sherman. The Avs have offered O'Reilly two different deals, one a five year/$17 million deal and a shorter two-year/$7 million contract but the O'Reilly camp has rejected both even though the deals are in line with what Matt Duchene signed for. O'Reilly is seeking $5 million a season in a long-term deal so there seems to be an impasse. Stay tuned.

At this point, it seems unlikely that Ryan O'Reilly will participate in the Colorado Avalanche's season opener. Anything could happen, but O'Reilly is in Russia and has already missed nearly the entirety of the short camp. Even if O'Reilly signs Friday, he'll need time to travel and Colorado might opt to let him recover from the jet lag and get some NHL practices under his belt before making his season debut.

There's "nothing new" regarding the negotiations between Colorado and restricted free agent Ryan O'Reilly, according to his agent, Mark Guy. This close to the start of the regular season, no news is very bad news. The Avalanche have reportedly offered him a two-year/$7 million contract, but O'Reilly is probably seeking a deal that better reflects his breakout 2011-12 campaign. At the same time, Colorado is probably concerned that he might end up regressing a bit towards what had previously been his norm. The two sides appear to be pretty far apart and O'Reilly is currently playing in the KHL.

Ryan O'Reilly has reportedly been offered a two-year/$7 million contract. That's the same deal that the Avalanche inked Matt Duchene to. It makes some degree of sense to try to provide him with the same offer. Both are at the same stage of their career and are x-factors. In Duchene's case it's because he struggled in 2011-12 while it remains to be seen if O'Reilly can build off of his breakout 55-point campaign. The problem is O'Reilly is believed to be looking for about $5 million annually. O'Reilly is currently playing in the KHL.

The Avalanche are not considering trading Ryan O'Reilly while the RFA plays in the KHL, two league sources told the Denver Post's Adrian Dater. The two sides remain in contract discussions but are roughly $1.5 million apart per year in the Avs' latest offer, according to the report. O'Reilly's demands are hamstrung a bit by the contract teammate Matt Duchene signed last summer and we're not sure the Avs will relent. Only 21 and coming off a 55-point season, O'Reilly is one of the best young two-way centermen in the league and would be a solid depth option in the middle for fantasy owners when this impasse finally ends.

Ryan O'Reilly and the Colorado Avalanche are still trying to negotiate a new deal. O'Reilly is a restricted free agent and is currently playing in the KHL while his agent Mark Guy negotiates with the Avs. It's possible that the two sides are at an impasse and O'Reilly could get traded or stay in the KHL but we think that the two sides will agree upon a new contract soon and O'Reilly will be back in a Avs uniform by the start of the season. Or not. Stay tuned as O'Reilly is coming off a 55 point season and is only 21.

Restricted free agent Ryan O'Reilly has still not re-signed with the Colorado Avalanche. O'Reilly had a breakout season in 2011-12 with 55 points and is looking to be rewarded for his play despite being only 21. He signed a deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL and has four goals and six points in seven games. Look for the Avs to eventually sign O'Reilly as he is a top six forward for the club.

Ryan O'Reilly's agent, Mark Guy has engaged in talks with the Colorado Avalanche about a possible contract for his client. O'Reilly is a restricted free agent and is expected to stay in the KHL until he signs with Colorado. That means that he might miss the start of training camp if the talks don't go smoothly. There might be a significant gap between what the Avalanche are offering and O'Reilly feels he's worth, given that he enjoyed a 55-point breakout campaign in 2011-12. If the Avalanche are worried he might regress, they'll be reluctant to pay him in accordance with his 2011-12 performance.
