O'Reilly scored an assist Tuesday against the Flyers, giving him points in three straight games.
EDGE Analysis
O'Reilly now has five points in his past three games and leads the team in scoring with eight points in nine games. After admitting that his offensive play was disappointing to start the year, Buffalo's top center has really kicked it up a notch. He scored 55 and 64 points over the past two years with Colorado and should be able to replicate that total with the Sabres. However, it should be noted that his shooting percentage of 14.3 percent is higher than his career average of 10.3 percent. The goal-scoring pace could slow down while his assists should ramp up.

O'Reilly scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Devils. He finished minus-3.
EDGE Analysis
He was dominant in the face-off circle (17-for-26; 65.4 percent), but was burned on his defensive assignment. O'Reilly is starting to show he can handle the role of top-line center, but his owners will need to weigh his activations carefully if their formats rely on plus-minus. This will be an ugly season for him in that category.

O'Reilly will have his hearing on Nov. 5th, reports AM980 London News.
EDGE Analysis
O'Reilly was charged before the season for impaired driving after hitting a Tim Horton's with his truck. The Sabres play the Lightning on Nov. 5th, so his status for that game is questionable at the moment, though he's not expected to miss any significant time.

O'Reilly's impaired driving case has been adjourned until Oct. 22.
EDGE Analysis
The case has been adjourned for the third time and moved to Oct. 22. The Sabres don't have a game that day. O'Reilly was charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene on July 9 when he hit a Tim Hortons with his truck in Ontario. The case may be a distraction for O'Reilly, but he's not expected to miss any games and is still penciled in as the team's No. 1 center.

O'Reilly was charged Monday with a DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired) for an incident that occurred Thursday in Ontario, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
While the legal fallout of O'Reilly's mistake aren't likely to cause any missed time, it's still a troubling development for a player the Sabres have invested millions of dollars in cap space for the next seven years. We'll see if he receives any discipline from his new team.

O'Reilly's contract extension with the Sabres will be for seven years and $52.5 million, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
The $7.5 million annual average value on the deal makes O'Reilly one of the game's highest-paid players. The Sabres and O'Reilly structured the contract in an atypical fashion, as the salary for each season is only $1 million, with the remainder of the money coming in the form of a signing bonus. It's a steep price to pay for Buffalo, but one they deemed necessary in order to continue their overhaul of one of the league's weakest forward corps.

O'Reilly, recently acquired by the Sabres over draft weekend, signed a long-term extension with the team Friday, The Buffalo News reports.
The team paid a pretty hefty price for O'Reilly (and Jamie McGinn), moving defenseman Nikita Zadorov, forward Mikhail Grigorenko, prospect J.T. Compher, and the 31st overall pick in the 2015 Draft. So it's no surprise they wanted to lock him in for the long haul, in a deal that's expected to be for over $7 million a season when officially announced. O'Reilly is expected to center the top line, with rookie Jack Eichel quarterbacking the No. 2 line as the Sabres try to pull off a quick, successful rebuild.

O'Reilly says he is more comfortable playing center and expects to play at that position for the Sabres, reports the Olean Times Herald.
On a team that lacks true centers, O'Reilly is a good candidate to be the team's new No. 1, and head coach Dan Bylsma certainly said as much after the trade. The Sabres will have a bit of a logjam at camp, with Zemgus Girgensons, David Legwand, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart all preferring to play center. While general manager Tim Murray noted that O'Reilly has played on the wing in the past, O'Reilly is arguably the team's best faceoff specialist. With an increased role, O'Reilly has the potential to set new career-highs. It's likely he'll begin camp playing alongside Tyler Ennis, the team's reigning top scorer and teammate at the most recent World Championships.

O'Reilly was traded to Buffalo on Friday along with Jamie McGinn in exchange for Nikita Zadorov, Mikhail Grigorenko, J.T. Compher and the 31st overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
O'Reilly has one year remaining on a two-year, $12 million contract that he signed with Colorado last summer. Colorado GM Joe Sakic was hesitant to extend O'Reilly at the money he was looking for, so he shipped him to Buffalo. It's an interesting fit. The Sabres are still in a rebuilding phase, but with O'Reilly, recently drafted Jack Eichel and prospect Sam Reinhart down the middle, Buffalo is definitely trending in the right direction. O'Reilly had 55 points last season in Colorado, and even though he's going to a weaker team, he's almost certain to have a bigger role on the Sabres. His fantasy value figures to remain about the same.
