The highly-productive blueliner made an early exit from Thursday's contest in Montreal and was forced to miss out on Saturday's game against Chicago, as well. The fact that the report seems to indicate that Ellis has yet to discuss his playing status definitely casts some doubt on his chances to play Monday, but the team should give a further update prior to puck drop.

In a figurative sense, there's no replacing a guy who averages more than 24 minutes of ice time per game and wreaks havoc on both ends of the rink. Ellis has been flirting with elite status in roto leagues where you win individual categories. In addition to 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 56 games, the defender has potted three goals to complement seven helpers on the man advantage. He's no slouch in his own zone, either, which is backed up by his establishing a new career high of 103 blocked shots this year. Without Ellis, the Preds will turn to Anthony Bitetto, albeit in a far less demanding role.

The defenseman has been playing well lately, with five points in his last six games. If he ends up missing time, there would be ripple effects through the rest of the Nashville depth chart as they try to replace Ellis' 23:57 per game.

The 26-year-old defenseman filled the stat sheet once again Sunday and in the process, matched his career high in goals. He now has 10 scores and 28 points, which is also just four shy of a career high. In addition to the offense, Ellis was second only to Roman Josi in ice time and led the Predators in shorthanded minutes, which is where he accumulated most of his blocked shots. Ellis is worth owning in all standard leagues, but he is a particularly intriguing option in formats with time on ice and blocked shots.

Ellis (undisclosed) will be in the lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Flames.

There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding the ailment, but it will be all for naught and Ellis will remain in the lineup without missing a game. The Ontario native is slated to maintain his spot on Nashville's top defensive pairing alongside Roman Josi. He may be looking to maintain his streak of shots on goal Tuesday, as he currently has at least one in every game in February thus far.

Ellis has played a key role in the team's three-game winning streak, notching three goals and five points. The 26-year-old is having a fantastic season with eight goals and 20 points in 39 games. It's unlikely he keeps up this production, but Ellis is on track for a career year and logs heavy minutes on Nashville's second defensive pairing and second power-play unit. The rearguard is rising offensively and is worth owning in most leagues.

He had managed just five goals over his first 36 games, but he has lit the lamp three times over the past two outings. Despite the hot play lately, he remains a lower-tier rearguard in most pools.

Ellis is now just three goals and two power-play points shy of his 2015-16 career highs.
