Fabbri (shoulder) will accompany the Blues on a three-game road trip to Western Canada, starting with Tuesday's meeting with the Oilers, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Fabbri will play before the trip ends in Vancouver on Thursday, but the tough-luck winger reportedly rejoined his teammates for a group practice Friday to clear a major hurdle in his recovery. Fabbri's only drawn into 138 games since the Blues took him 21st overall in the 2014 draft.

Fabbri suffered a separated shoulder Dec. 1 and was originally expected to be reevaluated after Christmas. It's appears to be good news that the 2014 first-round pick has began skating again, but there's no reason to think the Blues would shorten Fabbri's recovery time given his oft-injured history.

General manager Doug Armstrong said Fabbri (shoulder) likely won't need surgery and will be re-evaluated Dec. 25, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports.

Fabbri suffered yet another misfortune when he separated his shoulder in Saturday's game versus the Coyotes. The earliest he'll be able to return is Dec. 27 against the Sabres, but the Blues will likely proceed cautiously with Fabbri, who was in his 15th game since returning from two torn ACLs. The Blues recalled Jordan Kyrou and Jordan Nolan from AHL San Antonio to provide depth in the meantime.
