Paul Gaustad (upper body) might be able to return to the Nashville Predators' lineup on Thursday. Gaustad has missed the Predators' last two games due to the ailment. He's not an offensive force, but he's great on the draw and good defensively.

Paul Gaustad (upper body) thinks he'll be able to return to the Nashville Predators' lineup soon. Gaustad has missed the Predators' last two games due to the ailment. " We've kind of taken the approach of day-by-day and that's where we're at right now - just not today," Gaustad said. "Talking with the doctors, it doesn't seem like it will be something that limits me. Once I get back to 100 percent, I'll be fine." He had seven goals and 21 points in 70 games last season.

Twitter has become a source of information for some players. With talks lately lasting into the late-night hours, players have taken to social media to follow the latest from reporters. "Especially right now when there's talks going on," Paul Gaustad said. "It's an interesting thing in this lockout being the social media aspect with communication. It can help in a lot of areas and it can hurt in a lot of areas with everybody having a voice." Others log into the NHLPA app players have on their phones. "That's how I've been getting my information," Nick Spaling said. "Sometimes other sources aren't so accurate, and you can put whatever you want on there. It is what it is, but we wait for the correct information to come our way."

Paul Gaustad defended his former team, the WHL Portland Winterhawks, in light of their recent punishment. The Winterhawks lost draft picks, money, and suffered the suspension of coach/GM Mike Johnston for player-benefit violations. "Iƒ?Tm a little bit surprised by the suspensions that have come out and the fines," Gaustad said of the league's actions. "I think in my opinion itƒ?Ts overboard by a lot."

Paul Gaustad is trying to stay on an even keel during negotiations for a new CBA between the NHL and its players. "I haven't tried to get too hopeful or too down," Gaustad said. "It's a negotiation. You can't get too positive before anything is signed. If it's not signed, it's not done. We thought something positive may have come out of it, and still something can. It's not a closed door. We still have a negotiation to do. You take it a day at a time. You come here and prepare as best you can. It has been a long offseason, but hopefully it will be over soon." Gaustad signed a four-year deal with the Predators in the off-season for $13 million. Look for 25-30 points and 75-100 penalty minutes from the tough winger if the NHL gets a full season in.

Paul Gaustad's four-year deal has a limited no-trade clause. Gaustad has a list of eight teams that he cannot be traded to although the teams have obviously not been announced. Gaustad waited until close to the last minute before deciding not to become a free agent and sign with the Predators. "We looked at a lot of different scenarios," Gaustad said. "It's a great contract and I think the commitment that Nashville showed towards me - I wanted to show it by signing with them. I couldn't be more happy than to be with this organization."

The Nashville Predators have re-signed Paul Gaustad to a four-year deal worth $13 million. After recently re-signing veteran defenseman Hal Gill, the Nashville Predators rewarded Paul Gaustad with a four-year deal. The gritty centre provides the Predators with size and toughness in addition to face-off prowess. The Predators hoped to re-sign Gaustad, especially since they sent their 1st round pick in 2012 to Buffalo in the trade.
