Paul Gaustad (upper body) missed Monday's game but could return as early as Wednesday. Gaustad practiced with the Predators Monday but was deemed not ready to return to action. "It's feeling better every day, just slow improvement, just make sure it's back and ready to play," Gaustad said. He has a goal and three points in 13 games this season but is usually a good penalty minute player although he has only 12 this season.

Paul Gaustad (upper body) will miss both weekend games according to coach Barry Trotz. Trotz thinks that the feisty winger will be able to return to action early next week. "I don't think we're going to rush him back if there's any problem," Trotz said. "There wasn't a great amount of improvement the last few days, so he probably will not play (this weekend). It won't be long-term. . . .Not like six weeks or anything." Keep him reserved for the rest of the week if he is normally in your lineup.

The penalty assessed to Nashville's Paul Gaustad during overtime of Saturday's loss to the Wild has generated a fair bit of controversy. Gaustad was whistled for a "delay of game - faceoff violation" infraction after the puck inadvertently hit his glove while he was attempting to win a defensive zone face-off and the Wild went on to score the game-winning goal on the ensuing power play. "The interpretation of the rule, I thought, is intentional glove play," Gaustad said. The NHL reportedly stood by its official and reiterated that the correct call was made, but Predators coach Barry Trotz, who sat on the committee that helped develop the rule, disagrees. "To me that was not the intent of a faceoff rule when there's a bad drop bouncing three feet in the air, and he has two hands on his stick," Trotz said. "It's not like he's using his free hand." It was an unfortunate turn of events for the defensive-minded center.

Paul Gaustad scored the lone goal in the Nashville Predators' 2-1 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Craig Smith assisted on the goal, which was Gaustad's first of the season. Gaustad has just three points total on the year and is a far better player in real life than he is in fantasy.

Nashville's 3-0 victory on Thursday was Paul Gaustad's 500th game. Gaustad doesn't do a ton offensively, but he is a significant contributor with the Predators. He aides the team defensively and is great on the draw. He has a 60.8% faceoff success rate this season.

Paul Gaustad has taken over for the injured Patric Hornqvist on the Predators power play. Gaustad will stand in front of the net on the pp and at six-foot, five inches, he will be tough to move. "I watched a lot of film on Hornqvist. I think he's one of the best in the league. Obviously I'm not him," Gaustad said before Monday's game. "I'm a little bit bigger. I think my thing is screening and not as much tipping the pucks." This gives Gaustad some extra fantasy value as Hornqvist will not be back for three-four weeks.

Paul Gaustad was back in the Nashville lineup Saturday after missing three games with an upper body injury. Gaustad played over minutes in the games, registered a plus-1 rating and won over half of his faceoffs in the contest. He's likely only roster-worthy in deeper leagues that value penalty minutes.

Paul Gaustad (upper body) is projected to center the fourth line on Saturday. Gaustad missed three games due to the ailment. "We didn't want to rush it to get back," Gaustad said. "We wanted to make sure I'm healthy when I do come back, so everybody was good here: coaches, trainers, making sure I got the time I needed. Obviously there's a lot of games, so there's not a lot of time to rest, but it's good. I feel like I'm ready." His fantasy value is limited, but he's a solid defensive forward.
