The dynamic Chicago winger has built up an unsavory reputation off the ice, which has been publicly portrayed by his partying and his altercation with a Buffalo cabdriver in 2009. However, he has lived a controlled life overseas and spends most of his time after practice at home watching movies and TV shows on his laptop when he isn't working out. "We're not here on a vacation," said Kane's mother, Donna. "We're here for him to play hockey." Kane has done a good job in that regard with seven goals and eight assists in 14 games.

He has 15 points in 12 games playing alongside Tyler Seguin for Biel in the Swiss League. Needless to say, Kane hopes the two sides can come to an agreement and that he can start playing for the Blackhawks again.

Patrick Kane produced a goal and an assist to help Biel earn a 5-4 win over Lugano on Tuesday. He has racked up 15 points in 12 games in Switzerland during the lockout. Kane's Biel teammate and Boston forward Tyler Seguin finished the contest with a goal and a helper as well to give him 37 points in 24 appearances overseas.

Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist in Biel's 5-4 overtime win against Zurich. Kane has three goals and nine points in just five Swiss games. Tyler Seguin matched Kane's efforts with a goal and an assist of his own.

Patrick Kane is picking up steam in the Swiss National League A with EHC Biel. He has notched two goals and five assists in three games during his lockout stint in Switzerland. Biel is also taking advantage of his presence by selling a blue silk scarf with his name and number on it for 30 Swiss Francs (or $31 American).

Nearly 12,000 Chicago Blackhawks fans were treated to a high-scoring charity hockey fix Friday night, while the real game was the posturing between the NHL and its locked-out players. Members of the Blackhawks' 2010 Stanley Cup team skated against a squad made up of a grab bag of other NHL players, including Anaheim's Bobby Ryan, Carolina's Jordan Staal and Minnesota defenceman Ryan Suter. The Blackhawks lost 16-15 in a shootout, but Chicago star Patrick Kane had five goals. After the NHL cancelled games through November earlier Friday, much of the buzz at the Allstate Arena -- home of the AHL's Chicago Wolves -- focused on the work stoppage. The lockout has claimed 326-regular-season contests and the NHL maintains playing a full 82-game schedule is no longer possible after a league-imposed deadline for a deal with the NHLPA passed. Leading the conversation was NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr, who met with players earlier in the day. Fehr and players say the NHL's primary negotiation tactic seems to be stall -- and follow a scripted timetable. Nothing they've done over the several past weeks has been very much of a surprise," Fehr said.

Patrick Kane is happy to be playing in Switzerland during the lockout. "It's a good league for me," he said. "It's a pretty fast league. It's on big [international] ice. From what I've seen, a lot of NHL players have gone over there so I'm excited about it. It will be nice to play some games and try to work on my skills a little bit over there. There were a few teams, but this is the one that really came out in the end and really showed their interest in me. I'm really fortunate for that." Kane will get a chance to play with the Boston Bruins' Tyler Seguin.

According his agent, Patrick Kane will play for EHC Biel, in the Swiss National League A, during the NHL lockout. He will join Boston's Tyler Seguin on the team. Kane generated 23 goals and 66 points in 82 games with Chicago last campaign.

Patrick Kane wasn't too discouraged by the NHL's quick dismissal of the player's latest proposals. "It's to be expected. It's not going to be one of those things where, after an offer, we're going to lay down or after our proposal they're going to lay down," Kane said. "But you still have to look at the positive. Something's out there; something's being worked on to be negotiated. You can't get too up and down in this process." For now, Kane plans to play in the 'Champs for Charity' game on October 26. After that, he'll reconsider playing in Europe.
