Patrick Eaves returned to action on Tuesday December 6.

Right wing Patrick Eaves had surgery on his broken jaw on Monday. Eaves' jaw was wired shut, but no plates were inserted. He is scheduled to be evaluated in about two weeks but isn't expected to return for six to eight weeks.

The Detroit Red Wings announced that Patrick Eaves will likely miss six-to-eight weeks after he undergoes surgery on his fractured jaw. That's just an estimate based on the recovery periods for other Red Wings who dealt with similar issues. The team will update that window once he actually completes the procedure, though. It's great news that Eaves' injury isn't major considering how scary it looked, but he's probably not particularly fantasy-relevant either way.

Patrick Eaves will be out of action for some time after fracturing his jaw with two minutes left in Saturday night's 4-1 win over Nashville. He took a puck of the jaw and seemed to be knocked out for bit before being taken off the ice on a stretcher with blood flowing from his right ear area. It is not clear if Eaves will need surgery, but he will likely be out of action for a few weeks at a minimum.

Patrick Eaves played on Friday after missing three straight games because of a back injury. Eaves registered his first assist of the season in his return. He's participated in just seven of Detroit's first 14 games.

"I was able to finish the game, but after the adrenaline wore off I started to feel a lot of pain in my back." Eaves doesn't have a point in six games this season for the Red Wings.

Patrick Eaves and Fabian Brunnstrom were healthy scratches on Thursday. Tomas Holmstrom was back in the lineup, forcing Eaves and Brunnstrom to the press box. Neither scratch has any fantasy value.
