Eaves was used sparingly by the Senators, Hurricanes, Red Wings and Predators between 2005-13, before settling in quite nicely for the Stars this past season, scoring 14 goals with 13 helpers to boot. The winger could have had a huge season by his standards had ankle and concussion injuries not erased around half of it. However, be advised that more established players like Patrick Sharp and Ales Hemsky could hog time on the top two lines, leaving Eaves destined for a bottom-six role.

Eaves is unlikely to play in Tuesday's preseason opener after taking a puck to the ribs during a scrimmage on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

No real injury here, according to coach Lindy Ruff, who said that Eaves is "pretty sore," but that it doesn't appear to be anything serious.

Eaves re-signed Wednesday with the Stars on a one-year, $1.15 million contract, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Health issues limited Eaves to just 47 games last season, but he turned in some of the most productive hockey of his career, tallying 14 goals and 27 points. Eaves' fantasy relevance for the coming season will likely hinge on him seeing more frequent ice time with top-line stars Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, but he'll probably have to hold off the likes of Valeri Nichushkin, Ales Hemsky, and Cody Eakin for those duties.

Eaves potted a pair of goals in Wednesday's 4-0 blanking of the Ducks. With nine points over his last 10 games, Eaves is closing off his season on a very nice note. He's managed 26 points in 46 games this season and has shown chemistry at times with Dallas' big guns in Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and at times, Jason Spezza.

Eaves tallied the game-winning power-play goal in Monday's 5-1 triumph over the Sharks. It was his fourth point in five games. Eaves skated on both the top line and top power-play unit in this one, with Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza setting up his score. Injuries have cost Eaves significant time this season, but he's seen frequent use on scoring lines when healthy. He's picked up 12 goals and 12 assists to go along with a plus-7 rating over 45 games.

Eaves netted a goal and an assist in Monday's victory over the Sabres. It's the second consecutive two-point effort for Eaves, who responded well to a healthy scratch last week against the Penguins. The jump in scoring should allow him to stick on the second line with Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky at least a few games longer, which could give Eaves some intrigue in deeper leagues.

Eaves potted his ninth goal of the season, had an assist and fired six shots on goal in Saturday's win over Chicago. A solid all-around game for Eaves, who skated on a line with Jason Spezza. While he's got four points in his last four games, Eaves often goes extended periods of time without producing and has never surpassed 32 points in his career. He's a decent depth scorer who is valuable in some very deep leagues.

Eaves scored a goal, assisted on another and went plus-2 in Thursday's win over Carolina. He'd gone four straight without a point coming in. With 16 points in 34 games, Eaves is on his best scoring pace since his rookie campaign of 2005-06, but that's not worth much for fantasy purposes. Write this one off as a nice game against one of the journeyman's former teams.

Eaves (concussion) nabbed a goal in his return to action Sunday against the Ducks. Eaves was activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game after missing a little over two weeks of action. With Erik Cole shipped to the Red Wings prior to Sunday's game, an opportunity could exist for Eaves to slide back into a top-six role for the Stars.
