Rantanen collected his first career goal during a win against Winnipeg on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Rantanen has struggled out of the gate offensively with just a single goal and assist through his first eight games. After scoring 60 points through 52 games in the AHL last year, Rantanen owns ample fantasy upside, and he's consistently playing in a scoring role. He's a player to watch in all settings with the potential to catch fire and never look back.

Rantanen was held off the scoresheet in his first two games of the season Friday and Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The flashy Finland native was recalled last Monday after a conditioning stint back at AHL San Antonio. Rantanen landed a plum assignment out of the gate on the second line with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikhail Grigorenko, and even spent over three minutes per game on the power play. With that kind of deployment, it shouldn't be long before the 2015 15th overall pick records his first NHL point after a wildly successful 60-point showing (in 52 games) at the AHL level last season.

Rantanen was recalled from his conditioning stint in the minors Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Rantanen will most likely be competing with Gabriel Bourque for a spot on the right of Colorado's fourth line, but could make his 2016-17 debut as early as Friday against the Jets. In his previous NHL stint, the teenage played in nine games in which he was a disappointing minus-7 and record just nine shots on goal and two PIM. Perhaps the most significant impact of Rantanen's call-up is the associated roster move which required Ben Smith to be put on waivers and ended with Smith being claimed by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Rantanen will rejoin the Avalanche this week after his conditioning stint with AHL San Antonio, the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Avs are on on a lengthy break until Friday when they host the Jets, and GM Joe Sakic made it clear that Rantanen would be brought back up to the big club sometime before then. The 10th overall pick in 2015, the 19-year-old piled up 60 points in 52 games last year with San Antonio but wasn't able to crack the scoresheet in nine games with Colorado.

Rantanen (ankle) is going down to AHL San Antonio for a conditioning stint, Terry Frei of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear how will Rantanen will be in the AHL, or how many games he'll miss. After scoring 60 points in the AHL last season, he's been an enticing fantasy prospect, and once he's back in the NHL it'll be easier to predict his value.

Rantanen (ankle) has made the Avalanche roster and should be ready to go for their season opener Saturday, Terry Frei of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rantanen practiced at full speed Tuesday and should be able to suit up against the Stars for Colorado's first game of the 2016-17 NHL season. The 10th-overall pick from 2015 is still just 19, but got into 52 games at the AHL level last season and impressed with an eye-popping 60 points and plus-20 rating. Rantanen didn't record a point in nine contests with the Avs, however, but that will change as he continues to mature physically and adjust to the speed of the NHL.

Rantanen (ankle) went through a full practice with the Avalanche on Saturday, Terry Frei of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rantanen wore an orange, no-contact, jersey but it was the first time the 19-year-old practiced in full with the Avalanche since sustaining an ankle injury in mid-September. The No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 draft said following practice, "The rehab had gone pretty well and it's starting to feel pretty good. I just have to keep it feeling good, that's the goal." With Opening Night just one week away, there's a chance the the right winger could be ready by then but he added, "We'll see...We have to be smart with it."

Rantanen (ankle) did some skating before practice on Sunday, Terry Frei of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's been two weeks since Rantanen was given a 2-to-4 week timetable to return from a sprained ankle, so it's not surprising he was on the ice and skating prior to Sunday's practice. However, it doesn't appear that he's been fully cleared for practice, so he still could be a ways off from a return. The Avalanche have their regular season opener on Oct. 15, but considering Rantanen is already skating, it looks as if he's trending in the right direction to potentially be available for that matchup.

Rantanen (ankle) will be out 2-4 weeks, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post says.
EDGE Analysis
The Avalanche have said Rantanen has a sprained ankle, and he has been seen in a walking boot with crutches since injuring the ankle Friday. He bounced between the AHL and NHL last season, so it's unlikely he would've had a big fantasy impact this season, but he could make it back in time for the season opener on October 15.

Rantanen was reassigned to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 19-year-old right winger played three games in his recent stint with the Avalanche, registering a minus-2 rating in minimal action. He'll head back down to San Antonio to get more regular playing time. Rantanen has been dominant at the AHL level this season with 52 points in games.
