With that kind of deployment, it shouldn't be long before the 2015 15th overall pick records his first NHL point after a wildly successful 60-point showing (in 52 games) at the AHL level last season.

It's been two weeks since Rantanen was given a 2-to-4 week timetable to return from a sprained ankle, so it's not surprising he was on the ice and skating prior to Sunday's practice. However, it doesn't appear that he's been fully cleared for practice, so he still could be a ways off from a return. The Avalanche have their regular season opener on Oct. 15, but considering Rantanen is already skating, it looks as if he's trending in the right direction to potentially be available for that matchup.
