Mike Smith lasted two periods before being yanked in the Coyotes' 4-3 loss to the Wild on Thursday night. Smith allowed all four goals, making just 15 saves in the loss. Jason LaBarbera came in and stopped the four shots he faced in the third. Phoenix is just not explosive enough to get by with shoddy goaltending, which is what it's been getting out of Smith too often this season. His on-and-off performances have him sporting a 2.79 goals-against average and .904 save perceentage.

Mike Smith was huge on Tuesday as he turned aside 29 of 31 shots in the Coyotes' 4-2 win over the Canucks in Vancouver. The win snapped a mini two-game losing streak for Smith, who entered the contest with a 2.68 GAA and a .907 SV%. He's begun to turn things around after a slow start to the year. Hopefully he can put together a string of good efforts and get back to his 2011-2012 self.

Mike Smith wasn't sharp Sunday, giving up five goals on 31 shots in the Coyotes' 5-4 loss to the Flames. He was 1:23 away from a win, but in a matter of 23 seconds saw that hope vanish. The Coyotes are 8-7-3 this season, and they're nothing but a mediocre team with Smith playing average hockey. It's been a roller-coaster ride of a season for Smith, who also has three shutouts. The netminder has a 2.68 goals-against average and .907 save percentage this season.

Mike Smith has bounced back nicely from a slow start to the season. Smith has a 2.04 GAA and .925 save percentage in nine starts this month. He's done even better than that in his last five contests. "What we've seen in the last six to eight games is him getting back to that player that our team doesn't have to worry about the goaltending," Coyotes goaltending coach Sean Burke said. "They know that he's going to provide the kind of game where you have the ability to win, and he'll steal the odd game for you. That's really what you look for your goalie to do."

Mike Smith made 30 saves for his third shutout of the season, taking down the Calgary Flames 4-0. Smith is 4-1 in his last five starts, two of them shutouts. In that span he has a sparkling 1.55 goals against average and a 0.948 save percentage. Smith had a tough start to the season stats and health wise, but since coming back from injury he has looked like the goalie we saw all of last season, going 6-2-1 with three shutouts. He's a must start in all formats.

Mike Smith kicked out 17 of 20 shots in a 5-3 victory Saturday night. Smith has now won five of his last seven contests, bringing him up to 5-4-1 this season. The Coyotes had been shutout of two of their last three contests, so it's encouraging to see them enjoy an offensive outburst.

Mike Smith allowed three goals on 29 shots in a 3-0 loss to Nashville Thursday night. Smith entered the contest having won four of his last five starts and while this result wasn't his best effort, he's clearly rounding back into form. He's a low-tier number one fantasy netminder once again.

Mike Smith made 41 saves in the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 overtime win over the Colorado Avalanche. With the exception of one bad game against Chicago, Smith has looked great since coming back from injury, posting a 4-1-1 record, two of them shutouts, and a 2.06 GAA and .930 save percentage. This is the Mike Smith we grew to love from last season and he seems ready to prove to everyone that last season was NOT a flash in the pan. He's a must start in every league.
