Mike Richards (concussion) hasn't been on the ice since he sustained a concussion a week ago.
"Richards is progressing," Kings coach Terry Murray said. "That's all I can say. That's all I know, really. He's in every day, riding the bike, getting more acclimated, getting exercise and a feel for his own self." As you probably have already guessed, there's no timetable for his return. We'll keep you posted.

Mike Richards (concussion) is making progress, but he didn't skate on Monday.
"Mike Richards was here today," Kings coach Terry Murray. "He rode the bike, feeling better, and that's all I can answer on him right now. It's going to be a week for sure, obviously, with the I.R., and then hopefully we'll get another evaluation at the next home game." He will be forced to miss at least two more games. We'll keep you posted.

The upper body injury that Mike Richards sustained on Thursday could be a concussion.
GM Dean Lombardi was asked about the NHL's quiet room policy and he then revealed: "On the basis of those tests last night, he [Richards] couldn't return. Then he had tests again in the morning." Since the Kings placed him on the injured reserve list later in the day, it seems safe to assume that Richards does indeed have a concussion, or at the very least, concussion-like symptoms. He could be out for a while so stay tuned.

Mike Richards (upper body) has been officially placed on the injured reserve list.
This is just an FYI as we already reported that the Kings would eventually take this step. The Kings haven't revealed the exact nature of Richards' injury, but it looked like he was hit in the head by Tampa Bay's Sean Bergenheim on Thursday. Stay tuned.

Mike Richards is expected to miss at least a week due to an upper body injury.
Although Richards hasn't officially been placed on the injured reserve list, he's expected to be moved there tomorrow. He missed the third period of Thursday's game after taking a high hit from Tampa Bay's Sean Bergenheim. It looked like Bergenheim's shoulder made contact with Richards' head, but the Kings haven't disclosed the nature of Richards' injury. We'll keep you posted.

Mike Richards did not play in the third period of the Los Angeles Kings' 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night after suffering an upper-body injury.
Richards took a hit to the head by Sean Bergenheim late in the second period, and was actually whistled for a double minor for retaliating on the play. Richards is the team's leading goal scorer with 11 and would be a huge loss if he's to miss an extended period of time. More information regarding his status should be available Friday.

Mike Richards looks much more comfortable in Los Angeles after getting off to slow start in the goal department.
He registered two goals in his first 14 games with the Kings, but he has produced nine markers in his last 10 contests to give him a team-leading 11 on the year. "It's just a lot easier now. Before, it was kind of a feeling-out process, getting to know the guys," said Richards. "Now, you know everyone's personalities, their game, their style, and you know where everyone is on the ice, pretty much. You can always get better, playing with somebody, but at the same time, it's comfortable." Richards has 20 points in 24 games with Los Angeles after being traded from Philadelphia during the summer.

Mike Richards has been a major reason that the Los Angeles Kings power play has gone from 19th to 12th in power play efficiency.
Richards has a goal and six assists on the power play and has been on the ice for 12 of the Kings 17 goals with the man-advantage. The Kings have a top power play unit of Richrds, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown up front with Jack Johnson and Drew Doughty on the blueline. Richards has been terrific for the Kings and is a solid fantasy player who contributes in multiple categories.
