Stone (knee) filed for salary arbitration Tuesday, the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stone's camp will be able to continue contract negotiations with the Coyotes until the date of the arbitration hearing, which reportedly will take place between July 20 and August 4. While he's coming off the best season of his career -- six goals, 30 assists, and 14 power-play points -- Stone is recovering from surgery on his ACL/MCL, and that might explain the delay in the two sides agreeing to fair contract terms; it's difficult to put a value on the defenseman when his status is clouded by injury. He was extended a qualifying offer in late June, but evidently the initial offer didn't meet his demands.

Stone (knee) was extended a qualifying offer by the Coyotes on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Fellow blueliner Connor Murphy was also given a qualifying offer. It's important for the Coyotes to keep contract distractions for Stone at a minimum since his focus this offseason is recovering from surgery on his ACL/MCL. The 26-year-old defender, who notched career highs in assists (30) last season, is due for a nice raise after earning a base salary of just $1.45 million in 2015-16 -- that was the back end of a three-year deal.

Stone continues to make progress following surgery on his ACL/MCL in early April, the Arizona Republic reports. "The fact that I feel the way I feel right now," he said, "I think is a good sign."
EDGE Analysis
Stone reportedly shed his brace and is continuing therapy, though he doesn't know when he'll return to the ice. The 26-year-old blueliner cruised to career-highs in several categories this past season, including 30 assists with 14 of those helpers going down on the man advantage.

Stone finished the 2015-16 season with a career-high 36 points.
EDGE Analysis
His fifth season with the Coyotes proved to be the best of his young NHL career. He's not a big goal-scorer, but his 30 assists this season prove that he's got playmaking ability from the blue line. If Stone can continue to progress his offensive game the Coyotes will have a dangerous blueline combination with he and Oliver Edman-Larsson.

Stone underwent surgery to correct his ACL/MCL on Friday and will miss at least six months.
EDGE Analysis
Earlier in the week, Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said that Stone's absence would extend beyond the season, but it comes as a bit of a surprise to us that he'll be out so long. If all goes to plan, the 25-year-old defenseman who cruised to career-high marks across the board, could return at the onset of the 2016-17 campaign.

Coach Dave Tippett indicated Monday that he expects Stone (lower body) to miss the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign. "It's longer term than the season has left in it. I would say he would be done for the season," Tippett stated.
EDGE Analysis
Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports that Stone will undergo an MRI on Monday, allowing owners hold on to a string of hope that something will pop up. Assuming that's the not case, he will finish the campaign having collected career-bests in points (36), assists (30), shots on goal (161) and average time on ice (22:28). The 25-year-old has certainly displayed reason for optimism going into 2016-17, but owners can almost assuredly close the book and drop him in all but keeper leagues.

Stone left Saturday's game against the Flyers with a lower-body injury.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Dave Tippett indicated after the game that Stone's incident "didn't look very good," but that they would "see where it is (in the morning)." Considering the response from the coach, it seems the club could be without the blueliner for Monday's contest but more on his situation should be revealed in the next 24 hours. An extended absence would be a big blow for the Coyotes and fantasy owners competing in the playoffs, but the 25-year-old hasn't officially been ruled out for Monday so consider him day-to-day for now.

Stone scored the game's opening goal and added a helper on Antoine Vermette's power-play empty-netter in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
That makes five points for Stone in the four games the Coyotes have been missing Oliver Ekman-Larsson (upper body). The 25-year-old continues building on his career-high point total, now at 33, with 13 of those coming in the form of power-play assists. Whether OEL's in the lineup or not, Stone's been consistently involved in the offense, making him a credible fantasy play.

Stone dished out a pair of assists in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
Stone's quietly impressive season continues, as the 25-year-old rearguard is now up to 31 points in 69 games. He recorded totals of 21 and 18 points in his first two NHL seasons, so his current pace of 37 translates to a significant uptick that's given him relevance in many fantasy circles in 2015-16.

Stone assisted on Tobias Rieder's power-play goal in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Vancouver.
EDGE Analysis
With Oliver Ekman-Larsson out of the lineup, Stone had to be a leader from the blue line. He fired five shots on goal, one hit, and blocked a shot while leading Arizona with 24:25 of ice time. The assist ended a four-game pointless streak for the 25-year-old. With 29 points this season, Stone has already surpassed his career mark of 21.
