Frattin agreed to terms on a one-year contract with KHL Kunlun, Russia's Sport Express reports.
EDGE Analysis
Frattin has spent the last three seasons in the minors without the hint of seeing NHL ice, so it shouldn't come as a surprise he will head overseas. The University of North Dakota product twice logged at least 40 games in a season with the Maple Leafs but his limited production -- 35 points in 135 career games -- led to his demotion. If he can put up big numbers with the Red Star, the winger could still earn his way back -- perhaps on a two-way contract.

Frattin was loaned to AHL Toronto on Wednesday, though he remains a member of the Senators' organization.
EDGE Analysis
The former University of North Dakota standout was part of Tuesday's Dion Phaneuf trade, moving from Toronto's organization to Ottawa's. However, Frattin was already playing for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, and the Sens decided to leave him there for the time being.

Frattin was traded along with Dion Phaneuf and three others to the Senators on Tuesday for Milan Michalek, Colin Greening, Tobias Lindberg and a draft pick.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old winger has 135 NHL games under his belt, but it's been a long time since he enjoyed a regular role in the big leagues. He's spent this whole season up to this point with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, recording a modest nine goals and 22 points in 47 games -- a far cry from last season's 26 goals and 48 points in 59 AHL contests. A member of the Leafs' organization since they drafted him in the fourth round in 2007, Frattin will have to adjust to brand-new surroundings for the first time as a pro. He'll likely report to AHL Binghamton.

Frattin was recalled from AHL Toronto late Wednesday, Lance Hornsby of the Toronto Sun reports. With David Booth exiting Wednesday's game following an elbow to the head and Leo Komarov also dealing with an upper-body injury, Frattin will join the Leafs to help fill out their fourth line. Expect him to play Thursday against the Sharks and in the final game of the team's road trip Saturday in St. Louis.

Frattin cleared waivers Thursday and will be assigned to AHL Toronto, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports. As a 26-year-old winger with little more than fourth-line upside, Frattin didn't warrant much interest over waivers. He only played six games for the Leafs prior to his removal from the 23-man roster.

Frattin was placed on waivers Wednesday, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reports. Despite being healthy all season, Frattin has appeared in just six games for the Leafs this season, averaging 7:02 of ice time on the team's fourth line. His removal from the roster would allow the team to clear a spot for Joffrey Lupul (finger), who could be set to return from injured reserve in advance of Thursday's game against the Lightning.

Matt Frattin is excited to be back in Toronto. "You don't hear too many times of a player coming back to a team just a year after leaving," he said. "You definitely see the good players you are traded for and want to show people that you have your own value." Frattin feels he learned some good defensive tricks from Kings coach Darryl Sutter. He's also working on his speed and strength over the summer.
