The 39-year-old was vital to the Pens' penalty kill, as he averaged over three minutes per game shorthanded, while tallying a trio of shorties. The veteran was one of the few guys to log not only 82 regular season games, but also competed in all 24 playoffs contests. Although his production won't jump off the page to fantasy owners, he has reached the 20-point mark in all but one of his 19 NHL seasons.

Cullen scored his third goal of the postseason in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over Washington.

Cullen has been a solid source of secondary scoring for the normally top-heavy Penguins. The 39-year-old had 16 goals in 82 regular season appearances, but is outperforming that pace significantly with three goals in nine playoff contests.

Cullen now has 16 goals on the year, a total he hasn't seen since 2009. The veteran center has been hot lately, picking up points in five of his last seven games. Cullen isn't known for his scoring touch, but he is getting it done at all ends of the ice for the Penguins and showing no signs of his age.

Cullen scored his 14th goal and added an assist in a 5-0 win over the Islanders on Saturday.

The center has 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 78 games and has become of integral part of the glue keeping Pittsburgh together. He had his fifth-worst day in the faceoff circle -- losing 13 of 20 draws -- but the two-point game was his second in seven contests.

Cullen rounded out a productive contest with a plus-3 rating and winning seven of 12 faceoffs. The 39-year-old's 12 goals are his most in four seasons, but it's unlikely he'll light up the scoresheet too often down the home stretch of the season.

Cullen scored his 11th goal -- and third in eight games -- Sunday against the Rangers.

The game-winning goal was his fourth of the year, his most since the 2005-06 season, when he totaled five. While Cullen's value to the Penguins is as a faceoff man and penalty killer, the team will surely take his goal from behind the New York net that deflected off a pair of skates before sliding under goalie Henrik Lundqvist's body.

Cullen is expected to drop back down to the fourth line with the return of Evgeni Malkin on Saturday.

The line of Cullen, Carl Hagelin and Phil Kessel committed more than its fair share of defensive breakdowns. Because all of the team's current bottom-six forwards have played in the AHL this year, look for the line of Cullen, Hagelin and Kessel to stay together for at least one more game with Evgeni Malkin (lower body) out.
