Carle (hip) was moved to injured reserve Saturday, according to the official NHL media site. The Lightning haven't recalled a player from AHL Syracuse to assume Carle's spot on the 23-man roster, but the option will now be there for the team when it embarks on a road trip beginning in St. Louis next week. Carle is approximately at the two-week mark of his expected six-to-eight week recovery timetable.

Carle (hip) has a torn abductor muscle and will miss 6-to-8 weeks, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. Carle suffered the injury Thursday against Edmonton, and he sat out Sunday's win over the Avalanche. The defenseman will undergo surgery Tuesday and should be expected back by mid-to-late March. The 30-year-old has amassed 14 points (10 assists, four goals) this season in an average of 20:35 TOI/G.

Coach Jon Cooper said Saturday that Carle (unspecified injury) will likely be out until after the All-Star break, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. With Carle set to sit out Saturday's game against the Avalanche, it will be the first match the blueliner has missed since Mar. 27, 2010, snapping a streak of 347 consecutive games played. The Lightning are still evaluating him to determine the nature and severity of his injury, but it looks like he could be at risk of landing on IR. Fortunately, the Bolts are expected to welcome back top defenseman Victor Hedman (lower body) back in the lineup Saturday, which lessens the blow of Carle's absence.

Carle is undergoing evaluation for an unspecified injury, according to Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune. With Carle's status for Saturday's game against the Avs unclear, the Lightning have recalled fellow defenseman Luke Witkowski from AHL Syracuse. Carle notched an assist in 17:44 worth of ice time in Thursday's win over the Oilers.

Carle tallied yet another assist, this time in Sunday's win over Ottawa, and in doing so extended his point streak to four games (one goal, three assists). Huh? Has he finally woken up? He has five points in his last six games and suddenly looks like he might be relevant again. Capitalize right now and drop him when he slows down.

Carle stretched his current point streak to a modest three games with an assist in Friday's loss to the Penguins. He has one goal and two assists in that span. Modest is right -- this guy is best considered a stay-at-home type. But something is clicking lately, what with four points in his last five and six in his last 10. We're not prepared to declare him fantasy worthy, but he may help in really deep formats.

Carle potted his fourth goal of the season in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Sabres. The blueliner has recorded a point in three of his last four games, but it shouldn't be taken as a signal that he's set to reemerge as a 40-point scorer. Carle has seen his average ice time decline in three consecutive seasons and doesn't see much duty on the power-play these days.

Carle surprised with a goal and an assist in Saturday's loss to the Capitals. He now has three points in his last two games. He's not exactly tearing things up on the score sheet and it's clear that he's no longer a 40-point defender. At this point, he'll barely crack 20 points. Nice night, but don't count on him for much.

Carle picked up an assist in Tuesday's loss to the Islanders. It's just his second assist of the season and first point in 10 games. So, it wasn't that long ago that he delivered three seasons of 35 or more points. But his role has clearly changed this season with the addition of more quality blueliners and that has all but negated his fantasy value. He does deliver blocked shots, but that's about it. Only you know if he can help your squad.

Carle picked up his first assist of the season in Monday's 7-1 win over Montreal. He also had one minor penalty and four blocked shots. It's those blocked shots that are a real boon to owners in specialty formats, as Carle will likely also deliver 25 points. But don't overestimate that point tally -- the Bolts are deeper than ever before on the back end, so the ice time -- and the scoring -- are spread around.
