Mathieu Darche announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday. Darche tweeted a picture of skates hanging on hooks and wrote: "Time to make it official! Moving on to second career." Darche had been practicing with the Devils, but he said a few days ago that he was looking into a second career in hockey management in case his NHL career was coming to an end. We wish Darche the best of luck in retirement.

Mathieu Darche, who has been practising with the Devils and waiting for a contract offer, is planning a second career in case his hockey playing days in the NHL are over. He is looking to get into hockey management if he can't ink a deal soon. "I had agreed with Devils' GM Lou Lamoriello last week about a date next week that if I wasn't signed I would move on," Darche said. "He [Lou} would love to have me practice there until the trade deadline because if something happens I'm right there and they sign me and I'm ready to play, I know the system, I know the guys. But at one point, I can't keep waiting." Darche was a decent third liner but nothing more and if he does extend his hockey career, he will have little to no fantasy value.

According to Mathieu Darche's agent, Steve Freyer, "a couple of teams" have expressed an interest in signing his client. However, he is still hoping to get a deal from the New Jersey Devils so he is willing to wait a little longer. Darche attended the team's training camp on a professional tryout basis and he has been skating the with the club ever since as a free agent.

The Devils are once again contemplating adding Mathieu Darche to their roster. Darche had a tryout with the Devils during the abbreviated training camp but was not signed. However, with the possible long-term injury to Dainius Zubrus, the Devils will be short forwards. Look for GM Lou Lamoriello to make a move quickly.

The Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti says it's "looking like" Mathieu Darche will soon be signing with the Devils. The 36-year-old signed a tryout agreement with the team during training camp and he's continued to practice with the team, even without a contract. It's looking like that dedication will pay off. There's not too much fantasy appear here -- Darche had 12 points in 61 games last season.

Mathieu Darche is willing to continue to practice with New Jersey even though he's still unsigned. "I had a good talk with Lou," Darche said, referring to Devils GM Lou Lamoriello. "It was kind of refreshing to have the honesty. There's no promises. They have decisions to make and I'll keep practicing and we'll see what the next week is going to bring." Darche had five goals and 12 points in 61 games with Montreal in 2011-12.

Tryout Mathieu Darche hasn't signed with the New Jersey Devils yet, but he might soon. The Devils waived Bobby Butler Friday and that will open up a spot on their roster once he clears. Darche had five goals and seven assists in 61 games with the Montreal Canadiens this season.

Mathieu Darche has received an invitation to attend the New Jersey Devils' training camp. Darche registered 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 61 games last season with Montreal. The Montreal, Quebec native was a hard-working player for the Habs for three seasons, but doesn't have any fantasy value.
