Mark Stone is projected to be healthy by the time training camp starts and he wants to challenge for an NHL roster spot.
"I know I'm knocking on the door," he said. "It's just a matter of me putting together some consistent hockey and showing I can play at this level for an 82-game season." Stone skated in four games with Ottawa last season and he suited up in one playoff game, where he suffered a high ankle sprain. The Senators will see how he does at their rookie camp this week prior to his involvement in the club's main camp next week.

Mark Stone is still dealing with the high-ankle sprain he suffered in the playoffs and hasn't been able to skate yet.
It's been over a month since Stone was hurt in Game 4 of the Senators' second-round series against the Penguins. Injuries of this type can take as much as six or seven weeks to heal sometimes, so you would think Stone will be able to fully heal and prepare for training camp in September.

Mark Stone's undisclosed injury might be a high-ankle sprain.
If that's true, then it would have a negative impact Stone's offseason training. He had 15 goals and 38 points in 54 AHL games this season.

Mark Stone did not make the trip to Pittsburgh for Game 5 because of an undisclosed injury.
Stone was injured in Game 4 on Wednesday, his playoff debut. The 21-year-old played 11:23 and had two shots on goal. Matt Kassian and Cory Conacher took pregame line rushes, so one of them will draw back into the lineup.

Ottawa has recalled Mark Stone from the minors.
He had been sidelined with a broken finger, but he returned to play three games last week for AHL Binghamton over the weekend. Stone made his NHL debut in the 2012 playoffs and registered an assist in Game 5 against the New York Rangers. He hasn't played in the regular season yet. It should be noted that Stone was brought up earlier in the day, prior to the announcement of Milan Michalek's likely return Wednesday from injury. It's unclear how that will impact Ottawa's lineup, but the situation should become clearer by Wednesday afternoon.

Mark Stone potted a goal, but Binghamton came up just short in its 4-3 loss to Syracuse on Wednesday night.
Stone now has three goals and eight points on the year. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 draft, but has made enormous strides to work himself into legitimate prospect status, ending the past two WHL seasons with 106 and 123 points, respectively. This is Stone's first AHL stint, but he did manage to get into one playoff game last year, notching a point. Jakob Silfverberg also had an assist, his 16th point.
