Marc-Edouard Vlasic gained a lot of confidence when he played for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Games. Vlasic was a Steady Eddie for Team Canada as they won the Gold Medal. "Being there with those players, playing with the best and playing against the best players helped," Vlasic said. "Playing in the semifinal and final game, where it's one game and if you lose you have to wait four more years. Just having that experience, being able to bring it here into the playoffs, that's huge. I feel since the Olympics my game has grown, and I have to keep that going here." Vlasic had a goal and an assist in Game 1 and was tied for the team lead with five shots on goal.

Team Canada blueliner Marc-Edouard Vlasic is a much better player than people realize, according to coach Mike Babcock. When asked about the San Jose defender, Babcock responded by saying "I just told somebody this morning that Vlasic is way better than everybody knows. He's a really, really good player. (Drew) Doughty gets to do anything he wants and Vlasic is always in a great spot. He's a good defender, he's become harder." International tournaments such as the Olympics often allow otherwise unheralded players to jump into the spotlight and Vlasic is likely to be one of those players this time around.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic is projected to get plenty of ice time with Canada at the Winter Olympics. He's been paired with Drew Doughty during practices. "I'll probably be in more of a defensive role, but whatever it is I'll play the way I have been the last four years," he said. "That's why I'm here." Vlasic is an excellent defensive-minded blueliner and he shuts down the opposition's best players in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored his third goal of the season on Wednesday. Not bad for the defenseman who managed to score only three goals and seven points in 48 games last season. He has surpassed that this season with 10 points in 13 games as he has finally shown the offensive game everyone thought he had when he was drafted in 2005 in the second round.
