Luke Adam will face stiff competition to make the Buffalo Sabres out of training camp.
Adam is perhaps more widely regarded as a center, but he's also capable of serving as a winger and hopes that versatility will help him crack the Sabres' lineup. "I don't feel like one position is more suitable for me, but I feel comfortable at both and I'll play where ever Lindy asks me," Adam said, referring to Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. Adam had a great start to the 2011-12 campaign, but he went cold and eventually got sent down to the minors. He had 10 goals and 20 points in 52 NHL games.

Luke Adam has been reassigned to AHL Rochester.
Adam was a healthy scratch on Friday after failing to record a point in his previous 20 games. "Right now [Adam's] confidence level is low," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "He needs to go play a lot of minutes, he needs to get back on the scoresheet. And I don't think this is unlike a lot of young players. It's been a tough stretch for him."

Luke Adam spent Friday's game in the press box.
Adam had a strong start to the season, but he's pointless in his last 20 games. At this point, we shouldn't be surprised if the Sabres decide to send him down to the AHL. "It's a thought just to get him going, get him back on the scoresheet," said coach Lindy Ruff said. "He's definitely had his struggles but it isn't something we've discussed yet."

Luke Adam was a healthy scratch on Tuesday night.
"Luke has had a tough run," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Like any young player, he's going to have his ups and downs. He had a couple tough games on the road. I actually though that [Matt] Ellis and [Cody] McCormick had been playing better and the puck possession was good. It's not earth-shattering that a young player sits out a game. I think it's the trials and tribulations a lot of time, but he's got to stay around the puck more." Adam doesn't have a point in his past 17 games.

Luke Adam has seen his ice time drop and coach Lindy Ruff believes that the rookie's confidence has been shaken.
"It isn't about the defensive shortcomings. It's about the amount of plays he's made," Ruff said. "If Luke was getting 4-5 chances a game, that part of the ice time would go up, if he was making plays or setting up people. That part has to be better. He's probably lost a lot of confidence right now and it's tough. So you turn to your veteran guys and hope they can turn it for you. In the meantime, you hope Luke can find some confidence." Adam posted 11 points in the first 11 games of the year, while seeing the majority of that time between Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek, but of late that assignment has gone to Jochen Hecht and Adam has been relegated to the wing as a bottom-six forward. Adam has one point in his last 15 games, but his 10 goals are surprisingly the third most on the team.

Luke Adam recorded a goal and an assist as the Buffalo Sabres edged the Nashville Predators on Saturday night 3-2.
With 18 points in 26 games, the youngster has had a very nice rookie season. He's been a bit quiet lately, however, tallying only two points (both goals) in his five games prior to this one. The other goal scorers for the Sabres included Zach Kassian (second) and Tyler Ennis (first). It was also nice to see Ville Leino show some signs of life, getting two helpers (just his ninth point) in the win.

Luke Adam is tied for third amongst rookies with 14 points in 21 games.
Adam's got a boost in the early part of the season when he was playing alongside Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek. Unfortunately, the Sabres have since shaken up their lines and that's no longer the case. Adam has just a goal in his last five games and three points in his last 10 contests. He's worth keeping an eye on, but he won't have much fantasy value unless he finds his way back onto one of Buffalo's top two lines.

Luke Adam had a goal and an assist for Buffalo in the Sabres' 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night.
Adam got his fourth goal of the season in rather fluky fashion. He tried to pass the puck from behind the Philadelphia net but it his a Flyers' defenseman and went in. Adam also grabbed an assist, his seventh of the season, on the first goal of 2011-12 for teammate Andrej Sekera.

Luke Adam is slated to play left wing for Buffalo on Wednesday night against Philadelphia.
He will join center Derek Roy and Drew Stafford after Ville Leino was moved up to the top line at practice on Monday. Adam said he is happy to still being skating alongside talented players and that the position change doesn't bother him. He has recorded three goals and six assists in 10 games this campaign.

Although the Buffalo Sabres shook up their lines prior for Thursday's contest, Luke Adam stayed on the top line with Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek.
Adam didn't get a point in Thursday's contest, but Pominville and Vanek combined for three goals. It looks like the trio will stay together for the foreseeable future, which should be to Adam's benefit even if Thursday's result isn't evidence of that. Adam has three goals and six points in six games this season.
