Versteeg registered a goal and assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Senators. Versteeg helped give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead in the first period, maneuvering around Erik Karlsson and a prone Craig Anderson before finding the back of the net. The winger has produced three points in six games for the Blackhawks since returning to the lineup last Tuesday after missing time with a lower-body injury.

Versteeg netted his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to St. Louis. It was a classic goal from Versteeg, who took a pass from Patrick Sharp in the slot before beating Brian Elliott with a perfectly placed wrist shot. If he continues to skate on the second line, more points should start to follow. Take note, though, Versteeg isn't being used on the power play and is coming off a disappointment season where he managed just seven points in 18 games.

Versteeg (lower body) practiced with the team Monday. The winger has yet to suit up this season, but will likely be back in action Tuesday against the Flyers. Versteeg skated on the second line at Monday's practice alongside Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane. If that is indeed how the lines shake out for Tuesday, expect Brandon Saad to be bumped down to the third line, and Jeremy Morin to end up watching from the press box.

Versteeg (lower body) will be reevaluated by the Blackhawks' medical staff Monday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports. Versteeg has been skating for the last few days and joined the Blackhawks for Saturday's morning session, but he's still awaiting clearance to participate in full practices. With coach Joel Quenneville suggesting that Versteeg is ahead of his recovery timetable, it's possible he could be given the go-ahead to practice immediately after Monday's checkup.

Versteeg (lower body) was skating at Friday morning's practice and will be on the ice for practice Saturday with his return still unknown at this time, CSN Chicago reports. Versteeg was injured during a practice October 7 and was expected to be out for three weeks which would put it at the end of the month. Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville though said that he appeared to be ahead of schedule. "He said he skated well today and he feels real good," Quenneville said. "He's made significant improvement." If you go by the original time schedule, Versteeg would be back for the October 28th game against the Ducks at home.

Versteeg (lower body) is close to getting back on the ice, ESPN Chicago reports. If Versteeg can return to the ice this week, that would probably mean that he's way ahead of schedule for a return. The winger is coming off a disappointing 2013-14 campaign, but had a solid preseason this year, and will try to increase his offensive production when he returns.

Versteeg (lower body) reported Saturday that his condition is improving, but said he still remains a few weeks away from a return, ESPN Chicago reports. Versteeg is expected to return to the ice at some point next week, when the Blackhawks will begin easing him back into a full workload. Ben Smith is expected to occupy Versteeg's spot in the lineup until he's deemed ready for a return.
