Manson signed a four-year contract extension taking him through the 2021-22 season, Eric Stephens of The Orange County Register reports.

EDGE Analysis

Manson isn't an offensive force from the blue line, posting just five goals and 12 assists last season. However, he excels in true defensive play, dishing out 227 hits and blocking 79 shots in 2016-17, making his way to a plus-14 rating. His abilities have likely earned him a role in the top defensive rotation, and the 25-year-old will continue to work his way into moderate fantasy relevance.

Manson was not protected by the Ducks ahead of Wednesday's NHL expansion draft, TSN reports.

Manson emerged late in the season for the Ducks, supplying some spark during the team's playoff run. Supposedly, the team already has a deal in place to send other assets in order to avoid sending the blueliner to Vegas, which would be a big plus for Anaheim. The names that would be moved remain unclear, however.

Manson collected a pair of helpers and dished out three hits in Sunday's Game 3 win over the Oilers.

EDGE Analysis

Manson isn't known for his offensive production, as these two assists were his first points of the playoffs. He logs steady minutes on a defensive pairing with stud Hampus Lindholm, but that doesn't necessarily translate into offensive production. The 6' 3" rearguard is an intimidating force who is more valuable to the Ducks than he ever will be to fantasy owners.

EDGE Analysis

Manson has now reached 15 points for the second consecutive season. His playing time has remained the same, but Manson has become more physical, raising his hit total from 158 last season to 216 so far this season. In deep leagues that value defensive players, Manson is a viable option.

EDGE Analysis

Manson's solid real-world game doesn't fully translate to fantasy success, but he can certainly help in the hits (211) and PIM (69) columns. Additionally, he's proven to be a capable possession player with a career 54.3 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five. With just 14 points for the season, Manson will need to show an uptick in offensive production before he's a serviceable option in the majority of seasonal leagues.

EDGE Analysis

It was the second goal and 11th point of the season for Manson, who isn't known for his offense. The 25-year-old doesn't play on the power play and hadn't recorded a point in 16 games prior to Sunday. Manson's 61 PIM could make him relevant in very deep leagues, but if you need offense, it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Mason has 128 hits -- 11th in the league -- through 47 games this season.

EDGE Analysis

The 24-year-old defenseman also has a rock-solid 52 PIM, but his offensive numbers are underwhelming (one goal, 10 points and 46 shots). Additionally, Manson is averaging only 18:49 of ice per game and beginning just 47.3 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the offensive zone. His 52.4 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five is an excellent mark, and Manson is proving to be a serviceable depth defenseman for Anaheim, but he doesn't offer much fantasy help outside the PIM and hits columns.

Manson took advantage of a half-asleep Bruins defense and scored his first goal of the season 55 seconds into the second period in Thursday's 4-3 win.

EDGE Analysis

The Northeastern alum was triumphant in his return to his old stomping grounds, and despite not being known for his offensive skill, made a great read to jump up in the play and score against Anton Khudobin from in the slot. The Bruins defense was so preoccupied with Silfverberg along the half-boards that they neglected to keep an eye on the 6-foot-3 Manson. He now has seven points in 31 games and has minimal fantasy value outside his 74 hits and 44 PIM.

Manson was credited with a game-high five hits and received a season-high 21:15 of ice time during Thursday's game against the Flyers.

EDGE Analysis

Manson also picked up a minor penalty for elbowing during the game, as he continues to help in the penalty minutes and hits columns. For the season, he's amassed 16 body checks and six PIM over five games. However, he isn't going to offer much help in any offensive categories. Through 104 career games, the defense-first rearguard has just 18 points and 118 shots on net. He's likely not worth a roster spot in many fantasy leagues.

Manson ended the 2015-16 season with five goals, 10 assists, 74 PIM and a plus-11 rating.

EDGE Analysis

Manson finished up the season by not playing in the final six contests for Anaheim due to an upper body injury. Should their season had gone a bit more, it was likely that the 24-year-old defenseman would have gotten back into action at some point. Even before his injury, though, Manson was unable to make much of an impact in the 71 games that he played for the Ducks this season. With only 15 points all season, Manson will have some work to do next season to work his way up in the defensive rotation for the Ducks.
