Considering his willingness to block shots and lay out the body, Manson makes for one of the better well-rounded fantasy blueliners in the league.

While he might currently be punching a bit above his weight class offensively, the cross-category production makes Manson a high-floor asset in plenty of fantasy settings.

It's all the more impressive because he's locked into a shut-down role alongside Hampus Lindholm and has begun 59.8 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the defensive zone. Manson is probably still not a universal asset, but he's proving to be a solid blueliner to round out a defense corps in plenty of leagues.

However, it's come at a price, as he had a pedestrian two hits and didn't block a shot, categories where he usually excels. Owners aren't going to complain about the sudden offense, but he's much more likely to be consistent on the defensive side of the fantasy ledger.

In deep fantasy settings, the shut-down defender moves the needle through his peripheral contributions, as he's up to 51 shots, 37 PIM, 65 hits, 35 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating.

This is Manson's first goal of the season, but he has eight assists to go with that. The 25-year-old's minutes are way up, perhaps in part due to injury, and it's paying off for him, and fantasy owners, thus far.

Manson's numbers are never going to jump off the page, but he's quietly collected seven assists, 32 shots, 24 PIM, 40 hits, 19 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through 17 contests. Those are respectable marks in deeper settings. Unfortunately, Manson pairs with Hampus Lindholm as a shut-down tandem for Anaheim, so there is limited upside. The fantasy floor and cross-category production is reliable, though.

Manson has recorded four assists and a plus-7 rating while averaging 22:26 of ice time per contest through seven games this season.

EDGE Analysis

With the Ducks missing multiple defensemen due to injury, Manson has been tasked with a larger role after averaging just 18:38 of ice time per game in 2016-17. The 25-year-old blue liner has been up to the task, and he checks out as a potential add in deep settings because of his cross-category profile. Just note that Manson's minutes and fantasy value will likely decline once Anaheim has a healthy defense corps.
