Josh Harding did a wonderful job in the crease for Minnesota in Game 1's 2-1 overtime defeat versus Chicago Tuesday night. He stopped 35 of 37 shots after getting the start on very short notice. Niklas Backstrom, who was supposed to get the nod, was hurt in the pregame warmup so Harding was thrust into action. He played the entire contest without a backup. Harding appeared in only five games during the regular season because of complications he experienced with the medicine for his multiple sclerosis.

He was sent down to Houston of the AHL on a two game conditioning stint and returned Monday. "We think we got [the multiple sclerosis] under control here," Harding said. "I went and played and I felt good and nothing bothered me. The circumstances [in the AHL] aren't like the NHL. It's hot and humid down there, you're bussing, the travel schedule is difficult, your routines are different. And if I can play there under those circumstances, I know I could play here."

However, it looks like Harding is ready to resume his duties as Minnesota's number two goaltender.

The Minnesota Wild have sent Josh Harding (multiple sclerosis) to Houston of the AHL on a conditioning stint. Harding has not played since Feb. 6 as he had a reaction to his medication, but he is now well enough to play. He will see action in two of the Aeros remaining three games and will then be recalled back to the Wild.

It's the first time he's skated with his teammates since Feb. 11 after he experienced some complications from the medication he was taking for multiple sclerosis. Darcy Kuemper will continue to fill in as Niklas Backstrom's backup until Harding is able to return.

He was put on injured reserve Feb. 12 when his body didn't react well to his medication, but now feels like he's found the right regimen for himself. "I think we kinda got it under wraps here," he said following the session. "This was a big step for me. Hopefully it just keeps going the right way." There's no timetable yet for his return.

Josh Harding visited Xcel Energy Center Friday and coach Mike Yeo was encouraged by what he saw. "I had a brief conversation with him," Yeo said. "And he was feeling very good. His word, actually, was great. And even just looking at him, I think he looks great. So we'll talk some more about what the plan is going forward." Harding has not played since Feb. 7 while getting treatment for multiple sclerosis.
