Fortunately for fantasy owners, the Islanders don't kick off the season until Friday, so Bailey should be available to suit up against the Blue Jackets. The 28-year-old will likely start the season on the second line, but could get a shot on the Tavares line down the road considering he is a natural left winger. The Ontario native will be hoping to repeat his 2016-17 production in which he set career highs in both assists (43) and points (56).

There is a widely circulated rumor traveling around that the Islanders have a deal in place with the Golden Knights involving their first-round pick that will keep Vegas from selecting players like Brock Nelson, Josh Bailey, and Strome. If the Isles haven't made a deal with Vegas they may be assuming that a 27-year old forward that is making $4 million this season and one that has never scored more than 16 goals or 56 points in a season is unlikely to be selected.
