Lehtera (undisclosed) who is believed to be suffering from an upper body injury, is not likely to suit up Saturday against the Caps, according to coach Ken Hitchcock, reports Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The injury that resulted in Lehtera's exit in Thursday's win over the Predators and out of Friday's game against the Hurricanes is believed to be an upper-body concern, KMOV.com reports. Lehtera sustained the injury in the third period of Thursday's game when he ran into the end boards. The center will travel with the Blues on their two-game road trip, suggesting the team is confident it's just a day-to-day concern, but he won't be available until the second match of that trip Sunday in Washington at the earliest. Ty Rattie was recalled from AHL Chicago to provide the Blues with some depth in the interim, but it's fourth liner Ryan Reaves that is expected to see the greatest influx of ice time with both Lehtera and Patrik Berglund out for at least one game.

Lehtera put up a well-rounded stat line in Tuesday's win over Edmonton, picking up two assists to go with a plus-2 rating, two shots and four penalty minutes. He also had two takeaways, though most fantasy leagues don't count that fine stat. Lehtera has four points over his last three games, representing a significant improvement after he tallied just a lonely assist over the prior eight.

Lehtera contributed a goal and an assist to Thursday's 7-2 shellacking of the Sharks. The going's been slow for Lehtera lately, as he had just a single point in his last eight games coming into Thursday's action, and he saw just 12:22 of ice time in this one -- his lowest total of the season. He should typically see more ice than that, but his inconsistent offense makes him a middling fantasy option at the moment -- albeit one with some upside on the offensively gifted Blues.

Lehtera notched an assist to snap a five-game pointless streak in a 4-3 loss to the Ducks on Friday. Lehtera has cooled off significantly after the first two months of the season and now has five points since the beginning of December, four of which are assists. It's clear that Lehtera benefitted greatly from playing alongside Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz, so he shouldn't be considered an elite talent. The 27-year-old is a bench player in most fantasy leagues.

Lehtera scored his first goal since November 15 on Thursday in a loss to the Kings. He registered two shots and a hit in the game. Lehtera is having a great rookie season with 25 points in 31 games, but his pace scoring has slowed in December - he has four points in eight games this month. He is still playing with phenom Vladimir Tarasenko, which means that he will continue to see the score sheet for the rest of the season.

Lehtera gathered an assist in Thursday's win over the Islanders. While he's no longer producing at an elite level like he was in the early portion of November, Lehtera still seems to fit well with Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko on the Blues' second line. He's picked up assists in three consecutive games and checks with with 24 in 28 games on the season.
