Jonathan Toews had a goal and an assist in his first game since Feb. 19, but the Chicago Blackhawks lost in overtime 3-2 to the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night. Even after missing nearly two months with a concussion, the Hawks' captain showed no rust, scoring 4:04 into the game and assisting on Brent Seabrook's game-tying goal with 15 seconds left. Toews played 24:29 and finished with a plus-two rating with two shots. Patrick Kane had two helpers and Jonny Oduya added one. Seabrook and Kane each had seven shots on net. Chicago was thwarted on all four of its power plays.

Jonathan Toews will suit up in Game 1 of Chicago's first-round series against Phoenix in his return from a concussion on Thursday night. "I feel comfortable playing," he said following the team's morning skate. "It's time to go." It's been talked about all week that he would probably play in the postseason opener, but now the Blackhhawks captain has confirmed it. Toews hasn't played since Feb. 19.

Jonathan Toews (concussion) would be surprised if he was unable to play on Thursday. Nothing is set in stone, but all signs seem to be point towards Toews playing. He has missed nearly two months at this point and rejoining the Blackhawks for their playoff opener could be challenging. Given the intensity of postseason action, if he's even a bit rusty, it might be very noticeable. On the other hand, Toews has traditionally thrived in the playoffs and we've seen other star players return from major injuries and make immediate impacts in the playoffs.

Jonathan Toews (concussion) is likely to be a game-time decision for Chicago's series opener. "It has been going good the past week," Toews said. "I'm just taking as good care of myself as I can. It's great when you see a difference every day. Finally, those things I'm doing are paying off and I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I guess." Toews is projected to play on the top power-play unit and on a line with Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa if he's healthy. He hasn't played since Feb. 19.

Jonathan Toews said Tuesday was another good day at practice, but he is not ready to say if he will be available for Thursday's series opener at Phoenix. Toews has been out with a concussion and last played Feb. 19. He centered a line with Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa in practice and appears to be about ready to return. He even said that today compared to a couple of weeks ago is like "night and day."

The Chicago Blackhawks may start the postseason with a top-heavy No. 1 power play unit. Coach Joel Quenneville packed the first power play grouping with the team's best offensive players: forwards Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and defenseman Brent Seabrook. The hope is that it would jolt what finished as the 25th-ranked unit. These guys combined for 27 of Chicago's 42 power-play goals. The second group was led by forwards Andrew Shaw, Marcus Kruger and Andrew Brunette, with defensemen Duncan Keith and Johnny Oduya.

Jonathan Toews (concussion) is "very confident" about his chances of playing in Game 1 on Thursday. That being said, nothing has been decided and when it comes to players attempting to return from a concussion, it's usually better to temper your expectations. That being said, Toews did practice on a line with Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa on Monday.

Jonathan Toews (concussion) practiced on a line with Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa on Monday. That's an encouraging development, but obviously he should still be considered questionable for the Blackhawks' playoff opener. Toews has missed 22 straight games, so even when he does return, he might not have as much of an impact as we're used to.

Jonathan Toews (concussion) will not play in Saturday's game. "My status hasn't changed, unfortunately," Toews said. "I'm still progressing, I guess. It's kind of a frustrating to let another game go by but I just don't feel comfortable that (Saturday) is the right way to get back into it." Toews is still experiencing symptoms when he's on the ice. It remains to be seen if he'll participate in the Blackhawks' playoff opener.

Jonthan Toews (concussion) is questionable for Saturday's regular season finale. Toews has missed 21 straight games with the concussion and while the Blackhawks want him back for the playoffs, they do not want to risk his health. "I don't think anything has changed," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's progressing, but we want to make sure he's ready." Stay tuned.
