Bernier (lower body) led the Devils onto the ice and will start Saturday's road game versus the Penguins, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has missed the last three games due to injury. He won his first two starts of the year, allowing just five goals on 56 shots in victories over the Blackhawks and the Kraken. He'll face a tough test Saturday as Sidney Crosby (wrist) and Jeff Carter (COVID-19 protocols) are returning for the Penguins.

Bernier suffered a lower-body injury that will sideline him against the Capitals on Thursday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier started the first two games of the season while Mackenzie Blackwood (heel) was unavailable due to injury. With the 33-year-old Bernier also banged up, the Devils will likely have to turn to Scott Wedgewood for Thursday's clash while the recently recalled Nico Daws steps into the backup role.

Bernier stopped 27 of 29 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.
EDGE Analysis
New Jersey controlled play for most of the game, but Seattle worked its way back in, cutting the Devils' lead to 2-1 in the second period, then almost pulling back within one again later in the frame before having a would-be second goal waved off for offsides. The Devils turtled late and gave the Kraken a golden opportunity with an extended 5-on-3 in the third, which resulted in the second goal against Bernier, but New Jersey then sealed it with an empty-netter. The offseason acquisition is off to a 2-0-0 start while filling in as the starter for Mackenzie Blackwood (heel), but the schedule will get much tougher for Bernier and the Devils once they start facing foes from within the stacked Metropolitan Division.

Bernier will be between the pipes for Tuesday's home clash with Seattle, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier will get his second straight start with Mackenzie Blackwood (heel) still sidelined. Even once Blackwood is fully fit, Bernier should be in the mix for regular starts and could play his way into an even split of the workload looking ahead to the rest of the 2021-22 campaign.

Bernier stopped 24 of 27 shots in a 4-3 overtime win over the Blackhawks on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
While Bernier allowed a pair of goals in the last four minutes of regulation to force overtime, Jack Hughes was able to make him a winner. The 33-year-old Bernier was solid for the Red Wings last year with a 2.99 GAA and a .914 save percentage despite a 9-11-1 record in 24 games. The Devils are a bit farther along in their rebuild, and Bernier figures to be the temporary No. 1 goalie while Mackenzie Blackwood (heel) continues to get back to full fitness.

Bernier (undisclosed) has returned to practice and will be in goal for Friday's season opener versus Chicago if Mackenzie Blackwood (heel) can't play, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Lindy Ruff didn't sound very confident that Blackwood would be ready to play, so fantasy players should probably anticipate Bernier getting the nod. Looking ahead to the rest of the 2021-22 campaign, Bernier figures to fill the backup role and shouldn't expect to see more than 20-30 starts this year, assuming Blackwood is fully fit.
