Bernier (undisclosed) has returned to practice and will be in goal for Friday's season opener versus Chicago if Mackenzie Blackwood (heel) can't play, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

Coach Lindy Ruff didn't sound very confident that Blackwood would be ready to play, so fantasy players should probably anticipate Bernier getting the nod. Looking ahead to the rest of the 2021-22 campaign, Bernier figures to fill the backup role and shouldn't expect to see more than 20-30 starts this year, assuming Blackwood is fully fit.
