Skinner scored two goals in a 6-5 overtime win against the Canadiens on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

The Sabres' winger now has 11 goals on the year, good for second in the league (tied with a pair of Avs). With four in his last three games, Skinner continues to produce in spades for his new team. Up next is a home game versus Vancouver on Saturday, a team giving up an average of 3.35 goals, eighth worst in the league. Another solid matchup to look forward to.

Skinner scored two goals and an assist while adding five shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 9-2 shellacking of the Sabres.

EDGE Analysis

His second goal of the game came on the power play. The Sabres' top line of Skinner, Jack Eichel and Jason Pominville combined for nine points, while eight different Buffalo skaters had multi-point performances on an afternoon when the Ottawa defense offered no resistance whatsoever. Skinner now has nine goals and 15 points through 14 games, and with Eichel blossoming into a true No. 1 center, his veteran wingers are reaping the benefits.

Skinner recorded three assists in Thursday's 4-3 victory over Montreal.

EDGE Analysis

The monster performance put Skinner back on a point-per-game pace for 2018-19, now with five goals and five assists in 10 games. The 5-11 forward has points in four-straight games and continues to be an offensive catalyst for the Sabres.

Skinner scored three goals on three shots while adding one blocked shot, two PIM and a plus-4 rating in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Kings.

EDGE Analysis

It was the fifth hat trick of the veteran winger's career, although he needed an empty-netter inside the final minute to get it. The Sabres' top line of Skinner, Jack Eichel and Jason Pominville combined for nine points on the afternoon, and all six of Skinner's points this season (four goals, two assists) have come in the last four games.

Skinner scored a goal and an assist Saturday, helping his team earn a 3-0 win over Arizona.

EDGE Analysis

This was a much-needed performance from Skinner, who had yet to adapt to his new surroundings in western New York. He's got the potential for big numbers, and this game should help him build some confidence moving forward and get himself back toward the levels he showed in Carolina.

Skinner scored his first goal since being traded to the Sabres by the Hurricanes in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

EDGE Analysis

The goal came off passes from Jack Eichel and Kyle Okposo. That's a potent trio if it remains in tact once the season starts. Skinner's fantasy value could be at its highest ever in Buffalo. Push him up your draft list a few spots.

Skinner is projected for a top-line assignment flanking Jack Eichel to open the season, according to John Vogl of The Athletic Buffalo.

EDGE Analysis

Acquired from the Hurricanes on Aug. 2, Skinner is also expected to join forces with Sam Reinhart to serve as the elder statesman of a young but potentially lethal first line in Buffalo. While Skinner is only 26 years old, he already has eight years of NHL experience. The skilled sniper has recorded 204 goals and 175 assists over 579 career contests but hasn't been involved in playoff hockey since averaging a goal per game with OHL Kitchener as part of the 2009-10 campaign. While Skinner only averaged 16:42 of ice time last season, he could approach the 19-minute mark if he manages to stay healthy and exhibits solid chemistry with Eichel and Reinhart.

The Hurricanes traded Skinner to the Sabres on Thursday in exchange for Cliff Pu, a 2019 second-round pick, a 2020 third-round pick an a 2020 sixth-round pick.

EDGE Analysis

The Hurricanes drew plenty of interest for the 26-year-old winger, who enters 2018-19 in the final year of his six-year contract, but it was ultimately Buffalo who landed the prize. The Sabres add Skinner to a relatively young core group of forwards, positioning themselves to contend for a playoff spot for the first time since 2010-11. Skinner can generally be counted on to play most of the season, totaling at least 71 appearances -- excluding the lockout campaign in 2012-13 -- in six of his seven 82-game campaigns, but his minus-27 rating from last season isn't pretty. Some of that can be attributed to playing for a middling Carolina club. A change of scenery could do some good for Skinner. Coming off a campaign in which he posted his fewest points (49) since 2014-15, he should find a spot among the Sabres' top two forward trios and should improve a Sabres power-play unit that converted on just 19.1 percent of its chances last season.

Skinner is drawing trade interest from the Kings, Penguins and Blues, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Skinner has one year remaining on a six-year, $34.35 million deal. Perhaps best known for winning the Calder Trophy with the Hurricanes as an 18-year-old in the 2010-11 campaign, Skinner has compiled 204 goals and 175 assists over 579 career contests. He'll presumably attract any team that needs a significant boost on the man advantage, but at least in the case of the Kings, they're reportedly viewing Skinner as a secondary option to prized free-agent Ilya Kovalchuk, who averaged a point-per-game in the NHL between the Thrashers and Devils from 2001-13.

Skinner's name is being floated around in trade talks this offseason according to general manager Don Waddell.

EDGE Analysis

While Skinner had a somewhat disappointing 2017-18 campaign, scoring 24 goals and 49 points, he should still bring back some decent value to Carolina should he be moved. The forward turned just 26 years old on Wednesday and has scored at least 20 goals in six of his eight NHL seasons thus far. Skinner showed the type of player he could be in 2016, netting 37 goals and 63 points, both career highs. Should the Hurricanes choose to really shake up the roster, Skinner will be one of the biggest names the team could ship off.
