Skinner finished the 2017-18 season with 49 points, his lowest total in three seasons, along with a career-worst minus-27 rating.

EDGE Analysis

It was a disappointing campaign for the 25-year-old Skinner, after he posted a career-high 63 points the previous season. He still has a year left on his six-year, $34 million contract extension, but with new Canes owner Tom Dundon expected to make sweeping changes this offseason, there is no guarantee Skinner will be back in a Canes uniform next season. From a fantasy perspective, you never know what you're going to get out of Skinner in any given year, which makes him a high-risk selection on draft day. Buyer beware.

Skinner scored the Hurricanes' only goal Saturday in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers. He has seven points, including three goals, in his last six games.

EDGE Analysis

It was Skinner's 24th goal of the season. He's a long way from last year's 37 snipes, but this is his sixth straight 20-goal season. Plan on a mid-50s production next season.

Skinner dished out a pair of helpers to go with four shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Devils.

EDGE Analysis

Skinner had more goals than assists in each of the previous five campaigns, but he's on pace to reverse that trend with 26 helpers compared to only 23 tallies of his own this season. While his 26 assists are tied for the most of Skinner's career since a 32-assist rookie year back in 2010-11, a drop in shooting percentage from last season's 13.2 to 8.6 has led to a major decline following a 37-goal campaign. He's just 25 years of age, but Skinner's statistical fluctuations have already made him one of the tougher players to predict on a year-to-year basis in the fantasy realm.

Skinner provided the game-winning goal to supplement another even-strength tally and an assist in Thursday's 6-5 home win over the Coyotes.

EDGE Analysis

Skinner's always had tremendous puck skills, but this was his first three-point effort of the season, and he hadn't scored in over a month before bucking the trend in this barnburner at PNC Arena.

Skinner recorded an assist for the second straight game Thursday against the Flyers.

EDGE Analysis

Skinner's 20 goals and 19 assists have him on pace for roughly a 50-point season, which is disappointing in light of his 37-goal, 63-point campaign a year ago. Previously a top-six forward for the Canes, Skinner is currently skating on the third line, having been surpassed by the likes of Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and Brock McGinn. To make matters worse, he's currently sitting a career-worst minus-25 rating, which makes him fantasy poison in those formats that reward plus-minus. Manage your expectations accordingly.

Skinner scored two goals -- one on the power play -- during Tuesday's 7-3 win over Los Angeles.

EDGE Analysis

This was Skinner's first multi-point showing since Dec. 21, and it improved him to just 18 tallies and 17 helpers for the campaign. It's been a disappointing follow up to last year's 37-goal, 63-point showing. However, Skinner has now marked the scoresheet in three consecutive games, so this could prove to be a buy-low spot. Additionally, if he's floating around on any waiver wires, there's likely still positive regression ahead of his 9.1 shooting percentage.

Skinner recorded his first point in six games with an assist in Friday's 4-1 win over Vancouver.

EDGE Analysis

It's been a disappointing campaign to date for Skinner, who now sits at just 32 points after 55 games. This puts him on pace for something in the mid-40's, which would be a significant step backward considering the career-high 63 points he posted last season. He's currently spending most of his time skating on the third line, although he does continue to see a decent amount of ice time, averaging 17:00 per game with 2:10 coming on the power play. Feel free to stash him on your fantasy bench until his fortunes turn around.

Skinner generated a power-play assist in Sunday's 5-1 home rout from the Golden Knights.

EDGE Analysis

While Skinner himself can't be pleased with the outcome, his fantasy owners will gladly accept the man-advantage apple on a five-game slate. The eighth-year winger is up to a respectable 14 goals and 16 assists this season, but his minus-21 rating is far and away the worst on the team through 47 games.

Skinner registered 10 points (three goals, seven assists) during the month of December, despite finishing the month riding a four-game point drought.

EDGE Analysis

Skinner has been skating with Victor Rask and Justin Williams on the Canes' third line lately, but he's still averaging almost 17 minutes in ice time per game (16:56), including 2:22 on the power play. Skinner has always been a notoriously streaky scorer, but he's been remarkably consistent this year, as his current four-game drought is his longest of the season to date. Keep him rolling, as it shouldn't take long for him to start cracking the scoresheet with regularity.

Skinner scored his 11th goal of the season in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Sharks.

EDGE Analysis

It was truly a demoralizing loss for the Canes on this night, as Skinner's goal gave them a comfy 4-1 lead late in the second period, but they just couldn't hang on for the win. Nevertheless, fantasy owners have to be happy about Skinner's performance of late, as he now has nine points in his last 13 games. If he keeps this up, he might just have a shot at surpassing the career-high 63 points he put up last season. Keep him rolling.
