One night after racking up four points in a win over Phoenix, Jaromir Jagr was held off the scoresheet in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota. Jagr managed to direct three shots on goal, but each of his attempts was thwarted by Wild goaltender Josh Harding. With Jamie Benn's contract situation stlll unresolved, Jagr would battle with Loui Eriksson and Ray Whitney for the team lead in scoring.

"He really settled some things down for us tonight on the power play when we were kind of struggling to get some good looks. A heck of a player." He played in Czech during the lockout the whole time and you can see he knows what he's doing out there."

The Dallas Stars are expecting big things from Jaromir Jagr. "I don't think there's any question he has gas in the tank. He had a terrific season (last season) with Philadelphia," said Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk, who signed Jagr to a one-year, $4.55 million contract in July. "He's still a world-class player. . Even at 40, he's still a difficult guy to contain. He's still as good as anyone in the league at using that big body down low. He keeps himself in tremendous shape. I think he's going to be a really good fit with our group."

Jagr played in the Czech Republic during the lockout and managed 24 goals and a league-leading 57 points so he is ready to go. He deserves to be picked in the later rounds in deeper pools.

A case of jet lag reportedly delayed Jaromir Jagr's initial appearance at the Dallas Stars' practice facility. Not to worry, though. The 40-year-old future Hall of Famer had 57 points in 34 games with the Czech team he owns, Kladno.

Jaromir Jagr is coming into the 2013 NHL season already in game-shape. Playing in the Czech Republic to start the season, he put up 24 goals and a league-leading 57 points in 34 games. Jagr should help the Stars' awful power play, which finished dead last in the NHL last season with a franchise-worst 13.5 per cent efficiency. "We're going to put him in his position where he's had the most success, which is kind of running it off the half-wall," Head Coach Glen Gulutzan said. "He's an offensive guy, he's going to play around 17 minutes a night for us in key offensive situations and we're excited to have him."

Jagr is second in the league's scoring race. Montreal forward Tomas Plekanec collected three helpers in the contest to give him 45 points in 29 Czech League outings.
