Iginla will officially announce his retirement Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Iginla spent 17 seasons with the Flames before leaving in pursuit of a Stanley Cup -- a feat he was unfortuantely never able to achieve. All told, the winger logged 1554 NHL contests, in which he garnered 625 goals, 675 assists and another 68 postseason points. The two-time Rocket Trophy winner also earned Art Ross honors in 2001-02 and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2003-04.

Iginla registered a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating and received a five-minute major penalty for fighting during Wednesday's win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
While Iginla has a respectable five goals and seven points through 13 games since joining Los Angeles, he's also missed the scoresheet in eight of those contests. His minus-7 rating is also a crippling mark and limits the value of his other peripheral contributions (25 shots, 16 PIM and 25 hits as a King). The 39-year-old veteran checks out as a low-end fantasy option in most settings at this stage of his career.

Iginla scored two goals -- the second of which was the game-winner in overtime -- in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Both tallies came with the man advantage and were the first of Iginla's career in Hockeywood. He also received a whopping 20:02 of ice time, including a game-high 3:03 on the power play, and dished out seven (!) hits in addition to six shots on goal, so it was quite an all-around performance by the 39-year-old. If this keeps up and he's available on your waiver wire, be ready to pounce, since the four-time 40-plus goal-scorer has serious pedigree and could be rejuvenated by his new surroundings.

The Avalanche dealt Iginla to the Kings on Wednesday for a conditional pick in the 2018 draft.
EDGE Analysis
The conditions of the pick are unclear, but either way, Iggy is packing his bags for Tinseltown. He's had a horrendous year with the Avs -- 18 points and a minus-21 rating over 61 outings -- which is why the price was quite modest. That said, it wouldn't be surprising to see Iginla experience an offensive uptick in Los Angeles if he gets to skate alongside the Kings' better scorers.

Iginla picked up a goal and an assist over just 12:32 of ice time in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Nashville.
EDGE Analysis
This was minimal usage even by his standards; Iginla's average ice time is a modest 14:43, which is already a big drop from his heyday. Even with this nice game, he has just 18 points and a minus-19 rating over 60 games, so the 39-year-old winger looks like he's ready for retirement.

Iginla was named the game's first star Saturday after a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
The speed of today's game has left this guy behind, but Saturday was a good day for the some-day-soon Hall-of-Famer. Iginla is 39 years old and in the twilight of his career. He has 14 points in 49 games; eight of those points have come on the power play. It's kind of sad that his career has boiled down to this.

Iginla was scoreless with zero shots on goal and a minus-4 in just 8:46 of ice time in Tuesday's 6-4 loss against the Blackhawks.
EDGE Analysis
The 39-year-old veteran has just one goal and three points over the past 12 outings, and he has posted a minus-8 over his past three contests. Iginla was once one of the most feared snipers in the NHL during his time in Calgary, but his play lately resembles nothing from those halcyon days. It isn't even a good idea to use him in deeper fantasy leagues at this point, as his plus/minus has been brutal.

Iginla has only managed five goals and four assists through 36 games in 2016-17.
EDGE Analysis
That's 21-point pace over a full 82-game season, which would easily amount to the lowest of Iggy's illustrious 20-year career. He's actually potted two of his five goals over the last seven games while firing 16 shots on net during that span, so he hasn't been completely dormant as of late, but Iginla is clearly past his prime at age 39. The fact that the Avs have the worst goal differential in the league (minus-45) certainly doesn't help his cause, either.

Iginla found the back of the net in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
It's just the third tally of the year for Iggy, who also snapped an 11-game goal drought. The 39-year-old also fired a season-high six shots on net and spent a hearty 4:41 on the power play in this one, which is an encouraging sign for owners still clinging to the former Flames superstar. Despite having an even rating and just five points on the season, Iginla has three points and a plus-six over his last six games, so he's definitely showing signs of improvement. Combine that with the fact that 20 of his total 42 shots on goal have come during that span, and he's probably one waiver-wire candidate worth keeping an eye on given his lengthy track record of success.

Iginla has just two points -- both goals -- in 14 games this year.
EDGE Analysis
Even though he's getting up there at 39 years old, the lack of production from Iggy is dizzying considering he rattled off 22 goals and 47 points last season. As a result of his struggles, the former Flame has seen his ice time plummet to an average of 15:56 per game after recording over 18 minutes in each of his first two seasons in Denver. Even more concerning is his low shot total (22), as he used to routinely hover around the 300 mark in his prime and has settled in the 180-210 range in his last three campaigns. Given his sharp decline and painful drought, Iginla is probably best suited for the waiver-wire in shallow and medium leagues, and should be stapled to the benches of those in deeper formats until he shows some signs of life.
