There really must be something about that California sun that just boosts the performance of players coming from the East Coast. First it was David Perron clicking on the top line of the Ducks after being traded from Pittsburgh. Now it's Jamie McGinn lighting things up in his first two games with the Ducks. He's tallied goals in both games, and is showing signs of great chemistry on the second line with Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell. If this is the kind of production we can expect to come from the 27-year-old from this point on, he is definitely worth a serious look here down the stretch.

McGinn will be skating on the second line when he makes his Anaheim debut on Wednesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

Coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed that the 27-year-old winger will be skating alongside Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell on Wednesday against the Habs. McGinn has already been having himself quite the season in Buffalo, and looks to raise his fantasy value even more out in Anaheim. McGinn will certainly be one to keep an eye on to see how he clicks with his teammates once he takes the ice with his new team.

McGinn was dealt to the Ducks at Monday's trade deadline for a conditional third-round pick that could turn into a second, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.

Despite the Sabres not being a terribly good team, McGinn is in the midst of one of his better NHL seasons, having racked up 14 goals and 27 points prior to the trade. He joins an Anaheim squad that certainly needed help at left wing and could potentially skate alongside Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell on the second line, which would be a boon for his fantasy value.

McGinn scored a pair of goals -- one of which came on the power play -- in Friday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

McGinn is quietly up to 15 goals on the year, putting him in a nice position to challenge his career best of 20 set in 2011-12 with San Jose and Colorado. The 27-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent and is considered trade bait with the Feb. 29 trade deadline approaching, so owners and prospective owners alike will want to keep tabs on his production and if he's moved come March. With the right linemates, McGinn has shown in the past that he's capable of bursts of above-average offensive output.

Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said McGinn should be fine after taking a puck to the face in Monday's loss to the Rangers, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.

It sounds as if McGinn will be available for Tuesday's game in Ottawa, as Bylsma suggested that the winger only has cosmetic issues from Monday's incident. McGinn has yet to miss a game this season, tallying 21 points (10 goals) in 49 appearances.

McGinn recorded an assist in each of his past two games before being held without a point Sunday against the Jets.

Determined to be more than just a throw-in in the trade for Ryan O'Reilly, McGinn has worked his way into the Sabres' top-six, using his aggressiveness and tenacity to create offense, recording at least four shots on goal in three of his past five games. Other than playing just 14:27 against Chicago last Friday, McGinn has played at least 15 minutes per game since early December, and is on pace to at least match his career-high of 38 points.

McGinn will play alongside No. 1 center O'Reilly against Calgary on Thursday, reports The Buffalo News.

EDGE Analysis

McGinn, in the midst of a career-high six-game point streak, will take Evander Kane's spot on O'Reilly's left wing. Head coach Dan Bylsma is in search of an offensive spark and will reunite Kane with Jack Eichel, leaving McGinn and Sam Reinhart with O'Reilly. McGinn is not a noted scorer but goes to the hard areas and creates a lot of room for his linemates, and combined with O'Reilly and Reinhart's on-ice smarts, the trio should be able to capitalize against a Flames team that allows a lot of shots and goals. McGinn is a short-term plug for fantasy owners at this point given his top-six role, but shouldn't be considered a regular roster player.

McGinn tallied two assists in Friday night's win over the Hurricanes.

McGinn produced the two points in only 7:58 TOI. Unfortunately, that output is anomalous to what has otherwise been a poor offensive season. He has just eight points in 22 games.

The Sabres play Thursday against Tampa Bay and McGinn is expected to play. Given head coach Dan Bylsma's propensity to mix up the lines, McGinn could play anywhere, but in all likelihood it'll be in a bottom-six role.
