Jamie Benn will have a disciplinary hearing for his actions on Friday. Benn crosschecked Edmonton's Ryan Jones and was booted from the game as a result. Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan anticipated him looking at it, but predicted that Benn wouldn't be suspended. Of course, he's Benn's coach, so the shocker would have been if Gulutzan had predicted a suspension. We should know one way or another about Benn's fate before Dallas' game on Sunday.

Jamie Benn scored his fifth goal of the season on Thursday. Benn needed to weave around several Vancouver Canucks' players to do it. Benn has gotten at least a point in seven of his last eight games. He has 11 points in 12 games this season and we think that's a pace he can maintain if not build upon.

Jamie Benn has been selected as the NHL's second star of the week. Benn scored four goals and six points in three contests last week. He started the 2013 campaign as a restricted free agent, but he's been making up for lost time after inking a five-year/$26.5 million deal on Jan. 24.

After producing a mere one goal in 16 opportunities over the previous five games, the Dallas Stars got goals from Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn on the man-advantage in the first period Friday night en route to a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. "Just keep working on it, watching some video, working on it in practice," Benn said of the power-play unit's success. "I think it just comes down to shooting pucks and keeping it simple and I think we did that tonight."

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said that it took Jamie Benn a couple games to get into "battle form." Benn got off to a sluggish start after missing training camp and the beginning of the season as a restricted free agent. However, he was dominant on Monday with two goals and an assist in Dallas' 3-2 win over Colorado. "The way he shoots the puck and releases the puck is fun to watch behind the bench," Gulutzan said. "As a coach it gives you a sense of calmness when he's out there. I think that's what every coach in this league likes about their best players."

Center Jamie Benn returned to his old form Monday night with his first two goals of the season and an assist in the Dallas Stars' 3-2 victory over the Avalanche in Colorado. Benn, who missed the first few games of the season because of a contract holdout, scored an unassisted goal at 2:21 of the first period, assisted on Brenden Morrow's first goal of the season later in the period and delivered the game winner at 15:29 of the second period. Look for Benn to step it up big-time from here on in. Only 23, he's a first-rate player.

Jamie Benn still needs to work at getting better on faceoffs. Benn had a 46.2% success rate last season and has won 47.6% of draws so far in 2012-13. "He's a smart player," Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said. "Everything he puts his mind to doing, he can pretty much do. So he's been working on faceoffs and he's been getting better, but we know he can do even more. It just takes experience." Fortunately, Ben has other strengths he can utilize in the meantime and most fantasy owners won't mind his struggles on the draw as long as keeps finding the back of the net.
