As reported earlier, Jamie Benn has been named the new captain of the Dallas Stars. The team confirmed the decision at a press conference Thursday. "I'm deeply humbled and honored to be named the captain of the Dallas Stars," said Benn. "I look forward to representing this organization, my teammates, our fans and this great city in our pursuit to bring another Stanley Cup to Dallas." Dallas has a great deal of faith in Benn and they have been impressed with his development on and off the ice. The Stars also announced that Stephane Robidas and Ray Whitney will serve as the club's alternate captains.

As far as switching positions, Benn is embracing the move from center to winger. "Back to wing. Yeah, I like left wing," he said. "It's my natural position I think. I'm sure you might see me at center a couple games."
