Chychrun won't be in action versus the Predators on Thursday, as he is day-to-day due to an upper-body issue.
EDGE Analysis
Chychrun was just one game into his return from a knee injury that had kept him sidelined since last April and will now head back to the press box. Coach Rick Tocchet called the blueliner day-to-day, so it's possible he will be ready in time to face Boston on Saturday. If Alex Goligoski (lower body) is unable to play, Russian defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin would figure to slot into the lineup.

Chychrun signed a six-year contract extension Tuesday worth $4.6 million per year.
EDGE Analysis
The Coyotes have locked down their 2016 first-round pick through the 2024-25 season. Chychrun has scored 11 goals and 34 points through 118 games over his first two seasons in the NHL, and he's a solid two-way defender with 183 hits and 171 blocked shots in that span. Chychrun will make his season debut Tuesday against the Red Wings after missing the first 16 games due to a knee injury.

Chychrun (knee) will return to action against the Red Wings on Tuesday, according to coach Rick Tocchet and further corroborated by the fact he's no longer on injured reserve.
EDGE Analysis
Chychrun missed the first 16 games of the season, but the Coyotes managed quite well without the 2016 first-round (16th overall) draft pick based on a plus-6 goal differential over that span. Of course, adding the Florida native to the mix gives this team more offensive punch on the blue line, as Chychrun -- who skipped the AHL entirely -- has recorded 34 points over his first 118 games at the top level, plus he'll likely reprise his role on the power play.

Chychrun (knee) is probable for Tuesday's game against the Red Wings, Craig Morgan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chychrun has had to wait a while to get back to action, as he's been out seven months after tearing his ACL. When the Coyotes drafted him 16th overall in 2016, there was hope that the defenseman would become a key piece in the rebuild. The 20-year-old hasn't quite done that yet, but the first step on that plan is to get him back on the ice.

Chychrun (knee) has been given the green light to absorb contact in practice and is likely two weeks away from returning, Craig Morgan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Based on the two week practice timeline provided by general manager John Chayka, that would put Chychrun's potential return date as Nov. 11 versus the Canucks. Once given the all-clear, the blueliner's inclusion on the 23-man roster will likely result in the demotion of Ilya Lyubushkin to the minors -- although the club could opt to keep two extra defenseman and instead sent down a forward.

Per coach Rick Tocchet, Chychrun (knee) has yet to be cleared for contact, Craig Morgan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chychrun is reportedly ahead of schedule in his rehab from ACL surgery, but the Coyotes aren't going to rush him back before he's fully recovered. The 2016 first-round pick will likely be placed on injured reserve for the start of the campaign, and may head to the minors on a conditioning stint once he's cleared to play. There's still no official timetable for the American blueliner's return to action, but he's definitely trending in the right direction.

Chychrun (knee) is ahead of schedule, but the Coyotes will not rush him back, Craig Morgan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
As noted by Morgan, the team's first-round pick (2016) will be six months removed from ACL surgery by the time the regular season rolls around. Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet told reporters, "we're going to stay on schedule," but it's unclear what exactly the team has in mind in terms of a return date for Chychrun. Perhaps there will be more clarity on the situation closer to the Coyotes' Oct. 4 regular-season road opener in Dallas.

Chychrun (knee) will not be with the regulars to start training camp and remains without a timeline for his return, Craig Morgan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morgan reported in early August that Chychrun obtained medical clearance to resume skating. That's still in the plans for the 20-year-old defenseman as part of his rehab, but for the second straight year, his status is unclear ahead of the new season.

Chychrun (knee) has been given medical clearance to resume skating and his return to the ice is imminent, Craig Morgan of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
We heard this same story from GM John Chayka a month ago, but the defenseman is now 17 weeks removed from knee surgery. It's a bummer to see any player injured -- let alone the 2016 first-round (16th overall pick) -- but his immense potential still seems to outweigh the perceived risks in drafting him in the late rounds. Chychrun has accumulated 11 goals, 23 assists and six power-play points over his first 118 contests in the NHL.

Chychrun will undergo surgery to repair a knee injury, but is expected to be healthy for next season's training camp, Craig Morgan of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year blueliner also missed significant time at the beginning of 2017-18 with a knee injury, though this current problem is unrelated. While Chychrun's production on a per-game basis remained about the same when comparing this season to last, he became a positive plus-minus player and received additional responsibility from head coach Rick Tocchet. After averaging 16:40 and 0:31 of time on ice for the game and power play, respectively, during the last campaign, those figures jumped to 20:15 and 2:02 in his sophomore season. At just 20 years of age, Chychrun has the potential to become an upper-tier defenseman in the NHL.
