After hitting the 40-point plateau in consecutive seasons, Muzzin has registered just eight goals and 12 assists this year. He's seen a slight dip in ice time (including on the power play), and his shots, hits and blocked shots per game are all down from the 2015-16 campaign. Muzzin shouldn't be viewed as a universal fantasy asset and is best left to deeper settings at this stage of the game.

Muzzin was scoreless with a minus-4 rating in Tuesday's 5-0 loss against the Lightning.

It was a rough night for Muzzin and the Kings defensive corps, although he was able to salvage the stat line for fantasy owners a bit with three blocked shots and a hit. The rearguard appeared to be turning a corner and providing much-needed offense in early- to mid-January, but he has struggled lately. Muzzin is scoreless with a minus-6 over the past two outings, and he has been held off the scoresheet in eight of the past 11 contests.

Muzzin picked up his 100th career assist with a plus-2 in Saturday's 3-2 victory against the Jets.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin is heating up in the month of January, posting three goals with six points in six games. He has struggled mightily for his disappointed fantasy owners, but he is starting to come alive. The rearguard is a nice buy-low candidate for those looking to bolster their defensemen corps.

Muzzin scored twice in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Blues.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin opened the scoring on the power play just 3:18 in, then chased St. Louis goalie Jake Allen with a tally just over a period later. He had scored only three goals in his first 39 games, but now has three in the past three. Still, Muzzin has been a massive disappointment given that he's on pace for fewer than 30 points and has a minus-11 rating after reaching 40 and plus-7, respectively, last season.

Muzzin scored his third goal of the season and added an assist in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the visiting Islanders.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin often serves as a nice fantasy consolation prize to those who miss out on teammate Drew Doughty, but has been mediocre thus far with just five points in 21 games. He's firing the puck a lot -- 51 times to be exact -- and has points in two of his last three contests, so perhaps the 27-year-old is turning the corner at the season's quarter pole.

Muzzin registered two shots on net, blocked five shots and took a minor penalty over 20:54 of ice time during a loss to the Senators on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin has been slow out of the gate offensively with just a single goal and assist through 15 games. However, he has continued to provide excellent supporting statistics with 35 shots, 28 blocked shots, 35 hits and 14 penalty minutes. After posting consecutive 40-point campaigns the past two years, expect the offense to pick up for Muzzin going forward.

Muzzin went scoreless for the third straight game to open the year Tuesday against Minnesota, finishing minus-1 with a single shot on goal in 20:09 of ice time.

EDGE Analysis

The ice time was well down from his first two games, in which Muzzin averaged more than 24 minutes. He's taken only three shots in three games and owns a minus-2 rating, and things don't project to get a whole ton better with star goalie Jonathan Quick (groin) set to miss multiple months. Muzzin will probably get on the board soon enough, but the impact of Quick's absence is clearly making itself noticed in his stats already.

Muzzin had a pair of helpers in Friday's Game 5 loss to the Sharks.

EDGE Analysis

The Kings were eliminated from the postseason Friday, but it wasn't due to a lack of effort from Muzzin. The 27-year-old logged 26:06 of ice time in Game 5 and had a terrific playoff, appearing on the scorehsheet in all but one of the games. Muzzin collected five points (one goal) in five games and fired four shots on goal in four of those outings. After a strong postseason and back-to-back 40-point regular-season campaigns, fantasy owners should be confident in drafting the blueliner in 2016-17.

Muzzin netted a goal and four hits in 27:05 of ice time, defeating the Predators in overtime on Saturday 2-1.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin was able to make an impact in the box score for the first time since Feb. 11 -- a span of five games without recording points. The 26-year-old is on pace for the best season of his career, while also rewarding fantasy owners with 46 PIM and 136 hits to date. Let's see if the defenseman can build himself a point streak to go along with his aggressive play and substantial ice time.

Muzzin riffled a game-high five shots on net in Sunday's loss to the Devils.

There wasn't much offense in this one, as the Kings fell by a 1-0 tally, but Muzzin was active around the net in his 23:30 worth of ice time. The 26-year-old defenseman has been held off the scoresheet in three straight contests but has remained active offensively, so the points will likely come before long.
