The Kings flat out embarrassed the Oilers at Rogers Place, and Muzzin wasn't about to be excluded from the fun. Amazingly, the mobile defenseman is just six points shy of matching his point total of 28 from last season, when he covered the entire schedule. It gets better: Muzzin's collected 99 hits and 80 blocked shots for those of you involved in fantasy leagues that count defensive values.

Muzzin scored his third goal of the season and added a helper in 25:12 of ice time Tuesday against Minnesota.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin's terrific campaign continues, as the workhorse now has 18 points in 29 games on the season. He isn't as valuable as his partner Drew Doughty, but Muzzin logs monstrous minutes and plays on the power play, making him a steady source of offensive production. The heavy hit totals and plus-8 rating are a nice bonus, so make sure you get the two-way stud in your lineup.

Muzzin recorded two assists and a plus-2 rating through 23:07 of ice time (3:19 with the man advantage) during Friday's 4-1 win over St. Louis.

EDGE Analysis

After recording two goals and six assists over the first seven games of the campaign, Muzzin had just six helpers through the next 19 outings entering Friday, so this was a welcomed multi-point showing for fantasy owners. Muzzin's go-to role and cross-category profile make him a solid asset in the majority of settings. However, he still owns the upside to be a more consistent scorer and go-to contributor.

Unfortunately for Muzzin, he was still unable to find the back of the net, extending his goalless streak to 18 games. With a half dozen helpers over that stretch, the blueliner is finding ways to contribute offensively while averaging over 22 minutes of ice time. Considering the 28-year-old has reached the 10-goal threshold just once in his career, fantasy owners should probably temper any expectations they had of him becoming a consistent goal scorer.

EDGE Analysis

Muzzin has been rolling this season, sporting a five-game point streak and playing a key role with the man advantage. After a down year offensively in 2016-17, Muzzin is setting himself up for a terrific bounce-back campaign this time around. Muzzin has hit the 40-point barrier twice in his career, so with the Kings remaining unbeaten in regulation this season, he's a very solid fantasy play right now.

While he didn't etch the scoresheet in the season opener, Muzzin has now recorded a point (one goal, three assists) in four straight contests. It was evident from his game-high five shots on goal that the power-play quarterback was hungry to keep his streak alive. When it comes to fantasy hockey, Muzzin clearly belongs in starting lineups.

Muzzin buried a wrist shot for the Kings' first goal in Saturday's 4-3 OT home loss to the Canucks, an exhibition opener.

EDGE Analysis

The burly rearguard was quite active in this one, as he led his crowned allies in ice time (25:35), shots on goal (six), as well as collecting four hits and a pair of blocked shots. Muzzin is a perennial power-play contributor, but he posted a career-worst minus-21 rating last season as the Kings struggled to a fifth-place finish in the Pacific Division. One preseason contest isn't enough to signal that a bounce-back season is in store for Muzzin, but it's nonetheless encouraging to see him storm out of the game.

After having two consecutive seasons of posting over 40 points, Muzzin dropped of in 2016-17, recording 28 points and a horrid minus-21 rating. He's a valuable power-play asset, though, as that's where he scored 10 of his points. If he can bounce back up into the 40-point area, as well as kick up his defensive presence a notch, the 28-year-old will be worth the investment for Los Angeles.

Like everyone else on the team, Muzzin's had a difficult season with 26 points in 73 games and a minus-20 rating. It's a pretty sharp drop in production after scoring 40 points in each of his past two seasons, and his plus-minus is absolutely garish. The good news for fantasy owners is that Muzzin continues to pile on the hits and blocked shots, but it's still not enough to make him particularly valuable in standard formats.

Muzzin was fined $2,000 for embellishment Friday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

This infraction, also known as "diving," is assessed when a player falls down to deliberately get the attention of an official with hopes of drawing a penalty. Muzzin reportedly received a warning for doing this in a game against the Flyers on Oct. 14 and then he broke the rule again in last Saturday's home match with Vancouver. His fine will increase by $1,000 for each subsequent embellishment, and even Kings coach Darryl Sutter could be docked if the defenseman repeats the offense five or more times..
