Guentzel netted his third goal in as many games and went plus-2 Saturday against the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
After the game coach Mike Sullivan pointed out how Guentzel's offensive instincts mesh well with Evgeni Malkin. The 5-foot-10 rookie delivered three hits, too, an indication of his desire. Guentzel skated only 38 seconds on the power play, however, so his ability to score at even strength will likely determine his fantasy value until the team ups his special teams time.

Guentzel potted a first-shift, first-shot goal in his NHL debut and then added Pittsburgh's second goal in a 5-2 loss to the Rangers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The line of Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel was the only unit coach Mike Sullivan didn't mix and match with in an impressive New York showing. Guentzel led the Pens with five shots, four hits and went 2-2 in the faceoff circle. He's off to a fine start and looks to make a case for keeping him around even when guys like Patric Hornqvist (concussion) and Chris Kunitz (lower-body) return.

Guentzel will skate on a line with Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel on Monday against the Rangers. "He's got real good offensive instincts and we think he can be complementary to that group," coach Mike Sullivan said.
EDGE Analysis
Guentzel scored 17 points in 16 AHL games and played well with Malkin during the exhibition season. "It's about putting players in a position where they can play to their strength," Sullivan noted. While it's wise to temper expectations, a top-six role with the Penguins -- there's also talk he could take shifts with Sidney Crosby -- could boost his fantasy value.

Guentzel was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Guentzel could be in line to make his NHL debut against the Rangers on Monday, although the team could opt for the veteran Tom Sestito instead. The youngster was brought in after Chris Kunitz (undisclosed) was surprisingly placed on injured reserve. Guentzel currently leads the Baby Pens with seven goals and 10 assists and will look to make the transition to the majors. It seems likely the 22-year-old's stint will not last much beyond the length of Kunitz's injury, but for now there is no clear indication of how long that might be.

The Penguins could recall Guentzel from the AHL for Friday's game against the Islanders, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports. "We'll see what happens at the morning skate (on Friday)," GM Jim Rutherford said. "We'll see who's ready to go, and we'll adjust accordingly moving forward. We have some guys in Wilkes-Barre who deserve the chance."
EDGE Analysis
"He's been very good," Rutherford said. "He's really developing. He's on the short list." Guentzel has scored six goals and 13 points in 14 games for the Baby Penguins.

Guentzel has scored six goals and 13 points through the Baby Penguins' first 13 games of 2016-17.
EDGE Analysis
He leads AHL rookies in goals and leads all players with a plus-12 rating. The 22-year-old forward, who can play wing or center, will gain experience in the minors while biding his time for an NHL debut.

Guentzel scored a goal and added three assists in the Baby Pens' season opener Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He nearly made the NHL club out of training camp but instead started with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Guentzel is one of Pittsburgh's top prospects and figures to make his debut with the Pens at some point in 2016-17. He's one to keep an eye on.

The Penguins sent Guentzel to AHL Wilkes Barre/Scranton on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The forward has become one of Pittsburgh's best prospects and figures to earn a recall at some point in 2016-17. Guentzel saw his first pro action last year, scoring two goals and six points in 11 AHL contests before collecting 14 points (5G, 9A) in 10 playoff tilts. He likely has the best chance among the Pens' rookies -- along with Scott Wilson -- of providing fantasy owners with value this season.

Guentzel signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Penguins on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Guentzel, a third round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, saw action in 21 AHL contests with the Baby Pens on an amateur tryout deal following the conclusion of his collegiate career. In those outings, the 21-year-old quickly started compiling stats as he tallied seven goals and 13 helpers. While Pittsburgh has depth down the middle, the center is a solid prospect for fans and fantasy owners alike to keep an eye on next season and don't be surprised if, after starting in the minors, he makes some appearances in the NHL during the 2016-17 campaign.
