Guentzel potted a first-shift, first-shot goal in his NHL debut and then added Pittsburgh's second goal in a 5-2 loss to the Rangers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The line of Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel was the only unit coach Mike Sullivan didn't mix and match with in an impressive New York showing. Guentzel led the Pens with five shots, four hits and went 2-2 in the faceoff circle. He's off to a fine start and looks to make a case for keeping him around even when guys like Patric Hornqvist (concussion) and Chris Kunitz (lower-body) return.
