Given his production so far with a much more veteran-laden squad, Eichel might be the better rookie to have between him and Connor McDavid.

Regardless, Eichel will have gifted linemates to play with and should have a solid season. He's a must-have in fantasy leagues.

Eichel has simply been dynamite for the Sabres, who have also scored shorthanded goals in each of their preseason contests. Given his performance and potential, Eichel is firmly entrenched as the team's No. 2 center behind Ryan O'Reilly, though head coach Dan Bylsma certainly has the option of playing Eichel with slick winger Tyler Ennis, after the pair showed some good offensive chemistry in their previous preseason game against Ottawa. Eichel is an excellent mid-round pick in across all fantasy leagues.

He fed Ennis on a beautiful two-on-one play, had four shots on goal and played 20:09, third on the team behind Ennis and Kane. He also went 9-for-18 in the circle, including 6-for-7 in the offensive zone but 1-for-8 in the defensive zone. That Eichel is finding success on the top line is very good news, since it gives the Sabres the option of putting O'Reilly on another line. Eichel certainly has more offensive upside, and if the Sabres are in a pinch they could use Eichel in that role. Eichel is a must-have for fantasy owners looking for players with high upside.

Not to be outdone by Connor McDavid's two-point effort in his preseason debut, Eichel single-handedly mounted the Sabres' comeback win, setting up Matt Moulson's game-tying goal late in the third period before scoring the winner to give him two points on the night. Moulson, Eichel and right winger Zemgus Girgensons were clicking for much of the night, and if the chemistry continues to develop, Moulson will almost assuredly be Eichel's left winger. Eichel played 17:26 on the night and added three blocked shots and won six of eight faceoffs in a very inspiring and promising debut. Eichel is a must-have player for fantasy owners looking for upside. He will most likely be one of the Sabres' leading scorers this season.
