White signed a professional tryout contract with AHL Milwaukee on Wednesday. After spending 2013-14 in the KHL, White returned to North America this season, skating for AHL Providence before his release. The 30-year-old has over 500 career NHL games under his belt, so he could be a good organizational depth option for the Predators in the event that injuries strike their blue line.

The Winnipeg Jets have decided to release Ian White from his professional tryout offer. White is coming off of a rough season and wasn't able to secure a contract over the summer. All the same, White is capable of being a solid defenseman that can contribute offensively. It wouldn't be surprising to see him sign with a team before or shortly after the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

Ian White is trying to earn his way back into the NHL after a frustrating season with Detroit in 2013. He produced four points in 25 games and was a healthy scratch for 18 games. He's looking to make the best of his tryout deal with the Winnipeg Jets. "Your mindset's gotta be that you're going to fight for a job, and show you deserve to be here and can help the team win," White said. "I know I have a lot of game left. I'm only 29, and as a D-man, that's kind of where guys start really getting into their comfort zone.

Ian White will attend Winnipeg Jets training camp on a pro tryout offer. The 29 year-old defenseman will look to rebound after a disappointing 2013 campaign where he tallied just four points in 25 games. The Jets blue line is already pretty crowded with right shooting defensemen but White's above average puck carrying skills and shot could help the power play.

Look for Ian White to become an unrestricted free agent on July 5. White was thought to be a vital member of the Red Wings defensive corps going into the 2013 season but was a healthy scratch the last nine games of the regular season and did not play in any of Detroit's 14 playoff games. The defenseman is only 28, so he should find employment somewhere in the NHL as he does have offensive skills that are good enough for regular employment in the league.

The play of defensemen Brendan Smith and Dan DeKeyser have made Ian White and Carlo Colaiacovo superfluous in Detroit. The Red Wings are excited about their young defensemen and Ian White has now been a healthy scratch the last six games. He has only played in 25 games with two goals and a couple of helpers and it appears that his time with the Red Wings is now short.

Ian White expects to be in the lineup against the Oilers Friday night. He had missed Wednesday's game with some kind of a stomach virus but appears good to go against Edmonton. if you need White, feel free to activate him.

Ian White missed Wednesday's game for personal reasons. White should be back on Friday. The timing is unfortunate, given that White just got back into the Red Wings' lineup on Sunday after spending six straight games in the press box.

Ian White returned to the Detroit lineup on Sunday after being a healthy scratch for the previous six games. White saw 16:04 minutes of action and was plus-one. White has struggled offensively this season with only one goal and two points in 15 games after a seven goal, 32 point effort last season, although he did have only eight points in his last 31 games. Keep him reserved for now. Brian Lashoff was a healthy scratch.

Ian White has reached out to Red Wings GM Ken Holland and coach Mike Babcock as he continues to spend games in the press box. White is scheduled to be a healthy scratch for a fifth straight game on Thursday, but he hasn't asked for a trade. "No, we're not there yet. We're not there yet," White said. "But I was just voicing this is game five, and you play so many games in such a fast period that it can get away from you pretty quick. You look, after the weekend, it'll be seven straight games if you don't play. And for (Babcock's) sake, where do I fit? And for him, we have (Carlo) Colaiacovo coming back right away, too. So you just try to get a determination of where (Babcock) thinks you fit and where Ken thinks you fit -- now and going forward, as well." White, who is capable of being a solid offensive defenseman, has just two points in 14 games this season.
