Ian White had a goal as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 in the shootout Thursday night. With six goals, 24 points, White has really become a very valuable blueliner this year. Todd Bertuzzi notched the other goal, on a wicked mid-range slap shot, and he also had the winner in the skills competition. Johan Franzen and Pavel Datsyuk each notched two helpers in the victory.

Ian White (fractured cheekbone) will return to the Detroit lineup on Wednesday. White has been out since November 12 and it was thought at the time he would miss at least 10 days so his fantasy owners and the Red Wings have to be thrilled at how quickly he recovered as he will get back into the lineup after only 11 days. He will wear a full face shield to protect his cheekbone. White has seven points in 15 games this season so put him back in your lineup if you normally would.

Detroit has placed Ian White on the injured list due to a fractured cheekbone. He will be out of action for at least another week. The Wings needed the roster spot to activate Todd Bertuzzi in time for Saturday afternoon's contest.

Ian White fractured his cheekbone while blocking a shot by Dallas' Jamie Benn on Saturday. White is expected to miss at least 10 days because of the injury. The silver lining is that he won't need surgery. White has seven points in 15 games this season.

Ian White fearlessly blocked a shot from Dallas forward Jamie Benn with his face in Saturday's 5-2 victory. He left for repairs right afterward and didn't return. Less than a minute later, Darren Helm scored at the 9:19 mark of the third period to make the score 4-2. White finished the game with one goal over 19:17 of ice time. His status is unclear at this time, but we'll keep you posted once we hear something.

Ian White seems to have benefited from being paired up with Nicklas Lidstrom. "It's been special, obviously he's one of the best of all-time," White said. "To get an opportunity to play with him, alongside him, and just watch the way he plays out there is amazing." White has two goals, three points, and a plus-four rating in four contests this season. We obviously don't expect White to maintain that pace, but he should get roughly 35 points this season.

Ian White scored a goal in his first game as a member of the Red Wings Friday to help pace Detroit to a 5-3 victory over the Senators. The Red Wings benefited from a balanced offensive attack that also included goals from Todd Bertuzzi, Jiri Hudler, Nicklas Lidstrom as well as a goal and an assist from Cory Emmerton. It looks like the Red Wing machine is already running on all cylinders.

Ian White will get a chance to play on a pairing with Nicklas Lidstrom. The duo will be paired up for the start of the preseason. "Hopefully the coaches see something and there's good chemistry," White said. "He makes it pretty easy to play with him. I'm going to try not to screw up and make some plays." Even if White doesn't end up skating alongside Lidstrom, there's still a good chance that he'll get around 35 points this season. That said, playing with the future Hall of Famer would certainly make White a bit more appealing from a fantasy perspective.

Ian White will get consideration for a top-four position on Detroit's blueline this season. He will likely be presented with the lofty duty of replacing Brian Rafalski, who retired this off-season, on the team. White obviously isn't as skilled as Rafalski, but he plays a similar style as a mobile, puck-mover. He should see some action on the Red Wings well-oiled power play as well, which is always beneficial to a player's fantasy value. Jonathan Ericsson will probably battle with White at training camp for a spot as Nicklas Lidstrom's defense partner though.
