Gilbert Brule has successfully cleared waivers. Brule's contract can now be terminated by the Phoenix Coyotes. That will certainly happen as he's already made it known that he wants to retire from hockey. He had 43 goals, 95 points, and 156 penalty minutes in 299 NHL games, but he has struggled to maintain a roster spot recently and refused an assignment to AHL Portland.

Gilbert Brule has announced his retirement. The forward was sent to the minors on Monday and refused to report so the Coyotes suspended him. Brule, the sixth overall pick in the 2005 Draft, then went one step further and retired. He was an unrestricted free agent in the off-season and considered the AHL before the Coyotes inked him to a deal. He is looking at becoming a firefighter.

The Phoenix Coyotes have summoned Gilbert Brule. Brule has seven goals and 12 points in 11 AHL contests in 2013-14. He was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and recorded 37 points in 65 games with the Edmonton Oilers in 2009-10. However, he's struggled to firmly establish himself in the NHL and he hasn't even played in the league since 2011-12.

Gilbert Brule has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Phoenix Coyotes. The club announced the deal on Saturday after it was reported earlier this week that Brule would be heading to the KHL. Brule has six goals and two assists in eight games with AHL Portland this year and he hasn't played in the NHL since 2011-12. He has to clear waivers before he can report back to the AHL.

Gilbert has been released from his professional tryout with the Phoenix Coyotes. He appeared in 33 games with the Coyotes in 2011-12 and he played briefly in Switzerland last year. Brule may have to settle for an AHL contract or try to find another deal overseas if he wants to continue playing.

Gilbert Brule has reportedly agreed to a professional tryout agreement with the Phoenix Coyotes. He skated in 33 games with the Coyotes in 2011-12 and he contributed 14 points. Brule appeared in 14 contests with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss League last year, but he ended up getting released by the team. Signing a PTO gives him some flexibility if he doesn't earn a roster spot in Phoenix because he can try to find a job in Europe and not be immediately sent to the minors.
