Karlsson has been drawing more trade interest over the past few days, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
While it appeared that Tampa Bay was a likely landing spot for the gifted defenseman in early July, the report indicates franchises in the Western Conference are now more likely destinations. Vancouver in particular has recently been showing interest in the 28-year-old Swede.

Karlsson, who has been working on strengthening his surgically repaired ankle this offseason, believes "he is going to be as good as ever," The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson has been the subject of various trade rumors this offseason, though he's been tight-lipped about the progress of any contract talks that his camp may have had thus far. The star defenseman -- who has notched 518 points (126 goals, 392 assists) over 627 career games with the Senators -- added that the extra time afforded to him by missing the playoffs helped him focus on rehabbing the ankle injury that required surgery 13 months ago. When asked how the ankle feels, Karlsson said, "110 (percent) probably. It's that good."

Karlsson remains a Senator despite reports that he was on the verge of being acquired by the Lightning on Thursday, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
EDGE Analysis
An unsubstantiated report had surfaced linking Karlsson to the Lightning, pending a trade call to the NHL's front office, but nothing has officially surfaced in that regard. However, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun writes, "There's little question that Tampa appears to be Karlsson's destination of choice," pointing out that the star defenseman has a close relationship with fellow countryman and 2018 Norris Trophy winner Victor Hedman, who plays for the Bolts. While this certainly was a tease for hockey fans abound, Karlsson very well could still be on the move ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, whether he winds up in Tampa or someplace else.

There are 10 different organizations said to be in the market to potentially acquire Karlsson, who is seeking a long-term contract valued around $11 million annually, Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Karlsson still has one year left on his current contract with the Senators, trade discussions have been ramping up. According to Postmedia, the Sharks, Golden Knights, Capitals, and Rangers -- as well as six other teams across both conferences -- make sense as potential destinations for the stud defenseman.

Karlsson has received an eight-year, $10 million contract offer from the Senators, but the club is engaged in "serious trade talks" with multiple teams interested in acquiring the elite defenseman, Kathryn Tappen of NBC Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's looking more and more likely that a sign-and-trade scenario will play out for Karlsson.

Karlsson received a contract offer from Senators GM Pierre Dorion on Sunday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson has one year remaining on a seven-year, $45.5 million contract that he procured with the Senators in June of 2012. The final two years of the elite blueliner's deal have included a modified no-trade clause. In mid-June, Karlsson's wife Melinda filed a protection order against now ex-teammate Mike Hoffman's girlfriend alleging harassment, and Dorion ending up shipping Hoffman to San Jose with the Sharks promptly redirecting the winger to the Panthers. While that seems like a step in the right direction in terms of the Senators perhaps increasing their chances of retaining Karlsson, we'd expect the franchise defenseman to take his time thinking about his plans for the future.

Karlsson's wife Melinda officially filed an allegation of harassment against Monika Caryk, the girlfriend of Ottawa wing Mike Hoffman, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
EDGE Analysis
Could this have been part of the reason the Senators disintegrated in 2018? For whatever reason, Ottawa wasn't the same team after reaching Game 7 of the Eastern finals in 2017, finishing with the second-poorest record in the NHL. There's no evidence of fighting between Karlsson and Hoffman in the locker room, but a situation like this can't have been easy on either player. Both players remain on the trading block, and this makes it even more likely that at least one will be moved over the offseason.

Karlsson will be retained by the Senators -- at least through the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
EDGE Analysis
The elite defenseman has one year left on his contract with the Senators, and it comes with a modified no-trade clause and a cap hit of $6.5 million. As noted in this latest report, the team is prohibited from discussing a potential extension with Karlsson until the free-agent signing period opens July 1. Understandably, it sounds like GM Pierre Dorion will do whatever it takes to retain the Swede, as he's amassed 215 points (42 goals, 173 assists) over the last three seasons. The big question is whether Karlsson has a mutual interest in staying in Ottawa after the team finished seventh in the Atlantic Division standings after making it all the way through the Eastern Conference finals in the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Karlsson (personal) will skip the team's final road trip of 2017-18, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson continues to deal with a personal loss and the team has no incentive to urge him to play given the playoffs are out of the picture. The star blueliner will finish the 2017-18 season having produced 62 points - nine goals and 53 assists -- over 71 contests and figures to return to a prominent role to begin next season.

Coach Guy Boucher doesn't know if Karlsson will travel with the team for its three-game road trip, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
EDGE Analysis
Considering the Senators don't have anything to play for and Karlsson is dealing with the personal loss suffered by his family, it wouldn't be surprising to see him skip the road trip -- thus capping off his 2017-18 campaign. The team will leave for Buffalo either late Tuesday or early Wednesday and should be able to provide an update.
