Dwayne Roloson did not get much defensive help from his teammates as he faced 48 shots in Tampa's 6-5 shootout loss to Washington Monday night. Although we are sure he would like to forget this night, Roloson can only be saddled with a little of the blame as he kicked out 43 shots. On the plus side, he did not allow Alexander Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Alexander Semin and Mike Green to hit the scoresheet. it was the Caps' third and fourth liners that got to Roloson instead.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 32 of 33 shots on Friday as the Lightning thumped Carolina by a score of 5-1 in their season-opener. Roloson might receive a little more rest this season than some other number one goaltenders around the league, but as the starter on potentially one of the league's top teams his fantasy upside is immense.

In a move that will surprise no one, the Tampa Bay Lightning have decided to start Dwayne Roloson in their season opener. Roloson earned the right to be the Lightning's starter with his superb play with the Lightning, particularly during the 2011 playoffs. He had a 2.51 GAA and .920 save percentage in 17 starts to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Eastern Conference finals. Although Roloson will celebrate his 42nd birthday on Wednesday, we wouldn't be surprised if he starts in 60-65 games this season.

Dwayne Roloson has been one of the best goaltenders in the league during exhibition play and is looking to build on last year's success. The 41-year-old netminder finished the season with a 24-25-5 record with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in 54 games last season but posted a solid 18-12-4 record with the Lightning after being acquired from the Islanders. The proven veteran was also strong between the pipes for Tampa during their playoff run, which ended in the Eastern Conference finals. However, there's always a risk with drafting older goaltenders. How much does the veteran have left in the tank? Although Rollie is on the wrong side of 40, he is an intense competitor and his preparation is impeccable. He shouldn't have a problem reaching the 30-win plateau in 2011-12 playing on a strong Lightning club but his peripheral numbers won't be as good this year.
