Dmitry Orlov (upper body) skated in Hershey on Friday. Orlov suffered an upper body injury Dec. 6 during the Hershey Bears' game at Verizon Center. Bears coach Mark French told Tim Leone of the Patriot-News that he was "progressing". Asked Saturday about the 21-year-old defenseman, Washington head coach Adam Oates had "no updates". Orlov had a very respectable rookie year with the Capitals, notching 19 points in 60 games.

Dmitry Orlov suffered an upper-body injury Friday night, but it doesn't appear serious. The Capitals' defenseman was forced from the game in the second period of the Hershey Bears' 2-1 win. "I don't think it's anything serious. But he obviously wasn't able to return to the game," coach Mark French said. "We'll probably know better once I'm briefed [by medical personnel]." Orlov has nine points in 18 games.

Dmitry Orlov had two helpers as Hershey topped Bridgeport Sound 5-2 on Friday night. For a then-20-year-old at the NHL level, Orlov held his own very nicely last season, with 19 points in 60 games. He has nine points in 16 games in the AHL thus far. Tomas Kundratek had a goal in the win, one spurred by a four-goal third period.

It was Galiev's first point in the AHL after he just turned pro from the QMJHL, while Orlov had a solid debut season in the NHL last year, with 19 points. Both players also had two penalty minutes.

Dmitry Orlov will play in the AHL for now. According to Orlov's agent, Mark Gandler, a contract clause prevents his client from playing in the KHL unless the NHL season is canceled. Orlov played for Novokuznetsk Metallurg before making the transition to North American hockey.

Dmitri Orlov went after Carolina's Jeff Skinner on Tuesday night because he felt the former Calder Trophy winner slewfooted him. The incident occurred in the second period when the two players were chasing down a loose puck near the corner. Skinner said that a slewfoot was not his intention, but the Capitals were unhappy with the move. Orlov wasn't hurt on the play, but he took exception to it and racked up two minutes for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct for abuse of an official while trying to get at Skinner. The rookie defenseman also earned an assist in the contest. Both players could hear from the NHL for their conduct.

Dmitri Orlov returned to action on Wednesday February 22.

Dmitri Orlov was scratched from Monday's contest because of an illness, according to the Capitals. The rookie blueliner has two goals and eight assists in 40 games. Consider him day-to-day for now.
