The 22-year-old will likely have to settle for a 50-50 split at best unless he can go on a particularly strong run.

It was a tough night for the young netminder, who lost for the third time in his last four starts and gave up at least four goals for the fourth time in his last six outings. Levi has a 3.90 GAA and .868 save percentage over the latter stretch, and while the Sabres want him to seize the No. 1 job in the crease, a timeshare with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen might be the best option until Levi turns things around.

The 22-year-old netminder, born in the Montreal suburb of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, looked sharp in his first career start in front of his hometown crowd, and a shorthanded tally by Joel Armia in the second period was the only blemish on his line. Levi has been solid over the last month, going 5-2-1 in his last nine appearances with a 2.72 GAA and .909 save percentage, and he appears to have a firm grip on the No. 1 job in the Buffalo crease.

It will be Levi's first NHL start in his hometown of Montreal. Levi has lost his last two starts, giving up eight goals on 55 shots versus Ottawa and Boston. He is 7-6-2 with a 3.36 GAA and an .888 save percentage this season. Levi lost his only matchup with the Canadiens earlier in the season, as he gave up two goals on 31 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss. The Habs have found the back of the net 106 times in 37 games this season, 26th in the NHL.

EDGE Analysis
The Senators' final goal was scored into an empty net. Buffalo out-shot Ottawa 46-31 on the night but Levi got outplayed by Anton Forsberg in the opposite crease, although the young netminder really only had a clean look at one of the pucks that beat him. Levi continues to have ups and downs in his first full NHL season -- through eight outings in December he posted a 4-2-1 record with a 2.95 GAA and .900 save percentage.
