The Vancouver Canucks have placed David Booth on unconditional waivers. If Booth successfully clears waivers, then Vancouver will buy out the last season of his contract. That will clear up $4.25 million in cap space. Booth had just 19 points in 66 games in 2013-14, but a change of scenery might do him some good as he never seemed to mesh well with the Canucks.

David Booth's agent, Mike Liut, doesn't know what the Canucks intend to do with his client as the NHL buyout window begins. "I called Jim (Canucks GM Benning) a couple of weeks ago and spoke with him about David then," said Liut. "That was before the club's meetings and he was still getting up to speed on things. I asked him to give me a heads-up if they came to a decision." Booth entered the off-season as a likely candidate to be bought out, but for the time being he's still with Vancouver.

Zack Kassian, Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler picked up the other goals in the win.

"It was actually really cool," said Booth of the two-metre long alligator. "It was actually a one-time thing. I don't think I'm going to become a gator hunter. There's not too many things open in February, so I had to go to Orlando for a couple of days and it was successful." Booth is hoping for success on the ice now, with the NHL scheduled set to resume. He has just five goals and 12 points in 44 games this season.

David Booth was a healthy scratch for the 12th time this season on Sunday. Booth has not had a good time of it in Vancouver as he has struggled for a couple of seasons. He has only five goals and 11 points in 37 games and is not worth a pickup in fantasy pools.

David Booth is fine to play Saturday. He was injured late in Thursday's game against Phoenix. Booth has 11 points in 34 games this season.

David Booth will be back in the Canucks' lineup on Wednesday. Booth has been kept out of three straight games and it's not clear how much of that was just him being a healthy scratch or if he was actually unavailable due to an undisclosed injury. Either way, Booth is having a disappointing campaign and this is another opportunity for him to turn that around. "I hope he sees how some of the guys played last night," Canucks coach John Tortorella said on Tuesday, referring to Vancouver's gritty performance in its 1-0 loss to Los Angeles. "That's the way I want to see him play because we have another guy coming from the minors, so if he doesn't do it or other guys don't do it, I'll put another guy in."

It turns out that our speculation that David Booth was injured is correct. Coach Alain Vigneault said on Sunday that Booth missed the skills competition because he was 'banged up'. Booth participated in practice Sunday but whether or not he plays Monday will likely be a game-time decision. Booth was a so-called healthy scratch the last two games. He has five goals and 10 points in 32 games with a plus-four rating. He has little fantasy value.
